They will have single ply steel doors instead of wood core doors found
on
MILSPEC vans. Unlike the MILSPEC van, these containers will be equipped
with
forklift pockets for handling.
Corner fittings on CSC containers are designed to aid in lifting,
handling,
and securing the container through loading, transporting, and unloading
operations. The corner fittings are large steel castings or blocks
located at
all corners of the CSC containers. They have apertures or holes which
are
used for the engagement of handling and securing devices.
If these corner fittings are not present, the container is NOT CSC and
is NOT
covered by the laws and inspection requirements discussed in this
course.
The containers most used in international transport are those that meet
the
requirements of the Convention for Safe Containers (CSC).
