Pelosi, appearing on PBS’s “The Charlie Rose Show” asserted that “it’s fair to look at” the VAT as part of an overhaul of the nation’s tax code.

“I would say, Put everything on the table and subject it to the scrutiny that it deserves,” Pelosi told Rose when asked if the VAT has any appeal to her.

I have a better idea. How about we buy Pelosi a Greyhound bus ticket back to California along with the rest of them.

A bigger more wasteful Federal government naturally needs a better tax scheme. I wish we could abolish the Federal Government along with all of it's taxes, and focus on rebuilding our perpetually underfunded and corrupt states.

The Federal Government is killing our citizens in useless wars, and handing out our tax dollars to corrupt CEOs on Wall Street. We should tax them for the last decade.

On the state level:

Lets send every job we have overseas, and then try and tax our way out of the crisis. Or lets allow Nike and Intel to continue to recruit IT graduates overseas in places like India, and then ship them back to Oregon to work while undercutting our own in-state college graduates. Its an absolute honor to talk to someone that just spent $50,000 on an overpriced college education at a Oregon university, all to find out they're flipping burgers at a local diner because someone from out of the country was brought in to fill their position. Who needs sweatshops overseas anymore, when you can run them in your own state, and with the connivance of your own state bureaucrats.

Pay close attention to the Swine Flu, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and do ignore the hand reaching into your back pocket.

The Governor in Michigan is planing to tax the hell out of everyone that HAS a JOB with out a Vat Tax.

The Democratic-controlled state House may start voting this on ways to increase state tax revenue.
Democrats are talking about putting a freeze on the earned-income tax credit. New taxes on tobacco products or bottled water seem less likely.

The Federal government is supposed to handle mainly military and monetary issues, not Health, Education and/or Welfare. Those issues are suppose to be dealt with at more local levels.
