Very Surprising GOP Straw Poll Results...

I think most people would be surprised at Romney dropping to 5th, even behind the like of Herman Cain.

I am not at all surprised by Michelle Bachmann's finish with the exception I am surprised she did not finish second.

Paul wins RLC straw poll; Romney fades to fifth
By Domenico Montanaro, Political Reporter, NBC News

NEW ORLEANS -- Ron Paul won the straw poll here at the Republican Leadership Conference overwhelmingly with 612 votes, drawing big boos and some quieter chants of "Ron Paul." Jon Huntsman finished a surprising second with 382 votes, despite being a late scratch because of a "bad cold." Michele Bachmann was third with 191 votes.

Herman Cain was fourth with 104 votes. Mitt Romney, the presumed front runner, who won the straw poll here a year ago, faded to fifth with 74 votes. Tim Pawlenty finished with just 18 votes, fourth from the bottom of the 12-person ballot, just ahead of Gary Johnson (10), Buddy Roemer (9), and Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (2).

It's no surprise that Romney finished fifth. When he was Governor of Massachusetts he created Obama care on a much smaller level. More people are aware of it than a year ago. If he is the nominate for the Republicans than its over before it started.

Palin and Bachmann should run together - we can call their ticket 'Dumb and Dumber.'

Paul would make a fantastic leader and that's why he will never be. The mass media left/right/center are all ignoring him or worse - calling him a hack etc.

Obama on the other hand is the wrong president at the wrong time. He would have been great during the 90's when he didn't have to deal with the wars and debt left over from another Bush. He's just too weak to end the wars and tackle the debt.

I like Ron Paul a lot. If there is any Republican out there that I would like to win, it's definitely him by far.

Ron Paul won't be allowed to win because he'd flip the whole corrupt political system on it's head. Romney on the other hand won't deviate one inch from George Bush or his son Obama. More wars, more Wall Street corruption, same old stuff...

You know that Ron Paul's ideology is pretty close to that of the Tea party don't you?... The same tea party that some of you have trashed for the past 2 years.

As for this straw poll, it's really meaningless, Take a look at how many people voted, a measly 1542, and of that 1542, how many do you think were bused and flown in by the candidates?, or should I say "candidate?" The Ron Paul campaign did plenty of that, organizing their supporters for this event, Fortunately for Ron Paul the other candidates didn't care as much, and the numbers reflect it.

Ron Paul has always been a marginal candidate and theirs a reason for it.... Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of what the Man stands for, such as limited Government, less taxes, less spending, But some of his positions are way over the top, like the legalization of drugs, and voting against policing online child predators, Can you imagine what the Democrats will do with these 2 alone? The Dems will paint him as an extremist, someone completely out of the mainstream, it would almost guarantee Obama's re-election.. GOD FORBID!.

If Ron Paul is fully committed to his ideas then he represents pure unadulterated class warfare, and not warfare of ideas but warfare with guns. He's not going to dismantle the United States central banking system, most of the power held by the Federal government, the military industrial complex, and the corrupt media without a several millions deep army standing behind him. His policies would reallocate and redistribute trillions of dollars.

He's not getting elected, he'll be marginalized and buried into obscurity by the media until he retires or dies. If he some how broke through the media's phalanx via massive consensus then he'd probably get assassinated outright or die in a convenient plane crash. CNN already tried to destroy his credibility by pinning him to neo-Nazis and white supremacists a couple of years ago.

I'll be shocked if Barack Obama isn't reelected. I'm honestly not even sure it matters who is president at this point. There seems to be a pretty serious finite resources vs population problem currently kicking off. Does this global economic predicament have a soft landing or any form of political cure?
