Lightbulb Voter registration smashes records; 188 million

4 out of 5 adults over 18 are now registered voters.

Wonderful to see people take an interest in the political landscape that will undoubtedly shape the future direction of this country.

While its nice to see that the real question is how many will go out and vote? I think this will be a record turnout according to the lines I've seen just for early voting.

Yeah, lets hope Mickey Mouse and all the other fictional characters that are registered know how to vote.

I hear many of the cities Acorn has registered voters have 13% or more registered voters then the are people over 18 years of age who can vote.

    Incredible, isn't it?

Many states have already gone ahead and extended the hours.

NC has had more early voters than 1/3 of all the 2004 count. And that was updated through last Saturday!

It is really a non-factor, imo, and just typical bloat.

This was a common high school prank to sign a petition/roster to include names of movie starts, favorite athletes and animation characters.

I don't know of any state that does not check valid ID against the voter records.

Here in NC, you can go to any polling place, produce a valid ID, and it instantly checks against a database of registered voters. If the information does not match (including address which is a horror with foreclosures and evictions) then it is NOT valid.

Very impressed thus far with the methods in place to safeguard. As far as the other states, I understand that Florida in some places are still using the punch cards. Insane!

It is called "grasping at straws". Non of this crap is working or sticking on Obama and this has the McCain camp furious.

People are simply fed up and want answers to real problems. Not hypothetical scenarios but problems facing the nation but most importantly the individual.

If McCain loses, it will be because he has failed to inspire and unite. He has spent more time talking about Joe the Plumber and what happened 30 years ago than addressing the issues.

I felt sorry for him yesterday at a rally in Ohio, "Is joe the plumber here? Joe, come on out. Where is he? Is he here? Well, I guess he's not here. "

This was straight from a Saturday Night Live script and they will have a field day with it this Saturday.

    Key issues for McCain:

    He has failed to unite.
    Failed to inspire.
Has failed to address and confront issues facing us in the present.
Has only stated he will fix it whatever "it" is.
He has spent more time trying to discredit the opposition than address the issues.
And he has selected the most unqualified and laughable second in command in history. And I thought Dan Quayle would never be unseated from that top spot.

Don't blame ACORN, don't blame Obama, don't blame anything outside of McCain's own campaign. One of the worst and content empty campaigns I have ever seen in my life.

No punch cards for me in Broward county, we had the "fillin the circle" ballots.

As for voter fraud, when I was in college, I could have voted in two states for the 1992 election. I was a NH resident so I had my absentee ballot but since I was going to school in Maine, I could have also registered there and voted in Maine, too, just flash my student ID.

Sure, that would have been only me but imagine what someone who knows how the system works could do?

Cool, I was born in Maine and both my parents were from the Bangor area. We grew up in Waterville.

    Were you at Orono?

Yes, Orono (I think it is actually Old Town, though). I was also in the screaming black bears.

I find it interesting in terms of democracy that US voters actually have to register first in order to vote. (Even though i've always know that's the case.) Here anybody who is a citizen with a social security number (which you automatically get on birth) are automatically registered to vote as soon as you are 18. The only exception is non-resident citizens, who has to register on the embassy in the country of residency.
We also used to have about 90% actually voting, but that has dropped the 70% or so the last few elections. People aren't that interested any more.

About voter fraud, if you read your history books, you will see many instances of when voter fraud and Democrats are in the same paragraph. At times even offering handouts to poor people who vote.

Voter fraud is nothing new, especially for the democrats. This is stuff we learned about in junior high and high school if you paid attention.
