That's what we've just learned. For generations white trash was running the show by suppressing the vote
America's voting rights to "non whites" were granted after JFK's assassination, signed by Lyndon Johnson. Fourty-four years later, these suppressed voters finally speak out. I think that after 2000 and the stolen election in Florida due to voter suppression, the 44th president truly represents all Americans regardless of race. If anything else, Obama is a mix of both white and black races; what an example of a true union.

It was a grueling year. My wife just got back from Philly where she did legal work on voter protection pro bono.
As a nominally white man I never really knew the degree of voter suppression in this country.
Here's her story:
At 3 a.m. she left the house to catch a train to Philly where she was assigned to go by the Obama campaign.
At 6:30 a.m. she positioned herself 30 feet away from the polling station in the downtrodden part of Philadelphia. It's cold and windy and there is a slight rain. She's been sick for a week, but this job is too important to miss.
A line starts to form. There are no cops to be seen. At around 11 a.m. a nice older lady brings her a cup of coffee. At 1 p.m. she was invited to go to the house next door to sit & relax a bit.
At 3 p.m. one of the few white voters came up to her to say that "these folks are too busy to come to vote since they're always asleep".
At 7 p.m. hundreds of folks start arriving with their families & little kids in tow. Apparently most of them can't leave the job to go voting and their jobs end late in the evening.
At 8 p.m. cops arrive and tell the workers to close down the polling station. My wife interferes, and cops agree to extend it for another 15 minutes.
She took 77 names of people who couldn't cast their votes.
Her collegues at the lilly white neighborhoods reported that the stations there were opened till 9:30 p.m. or 10 p.m.
At 11:30 p.m. I picked her up at the train station, and at midnight we popped a bottle of champagne. My little daughter said: These will be terrific 4 years. Right daddy?

I found some of the 'vote suppression' stuff rather amusing. Some were telling people "because the polls are so busy, Republicans will vote Tuesday and Democrats on Wednesday" and "in case of rain, the election will be held on Wednesday".
That's hilarious! Anyone who beleives it really shouldn't be making decisions anyway.

In the landslide election the undercount of a few thousand votes doesn't make a diff.
But in 2004, 2000, etc...
If anybody has been suppressing the vote its the Democrat party. You know like having a Black Panther member standing outside of a polling place in Philadelphia with a nightstick in his hand. Guess you didn't here about that? How about in Virginia where Republican monitors at some polling places were removed so they couldn't look over certain ballots that were thought to be fraudulent. Missed that one too? I have more but I feel I would be wasting my time with you.
Don, if I were a relative of yours I would outcast you. You have no shame. Here's a free tip: search for "Civil rights movement" in Google and read for a few hours before you even come here to preach about who violates whose rights!
You got nerve telling me to read up on the civil rights movement. It was Democrats who were against the 1964 Civil Rights bill. Democrat Senator Robert Byrd led Democrats to filibuster the bill for 14 hours. He also opposed the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Republicans supported both bills.
BTW.....if you were my relative you would be in mental institution. It where all liberals need to go.

As a result of intimidation & ugly laws in most of the twentieth century the Blacks couldn't vote in this country.
