And Raider, you asked if I thought only the rich vote for republicans? and poor for the dems? Yes, that is what I believe. If your poor and vote republican your brain waves are short circuiting somewhere along the line. See the link below for another reason not to vote "R" imho. That is unless your rich of course.

When the percentage of debt equals the GDP, we are broke, broken, busted.

For the thinking impaired, here some pretty (bleak) pictures:

I am not in favor of spending our way out of a recession or a depression. But, I am concerned how we got there and who got us into that position. Two global wars not properly funded, a Medicare Benefits plan passed into law in 2006 that was never funded, and people want to question the spending of one cent in this current administration?

Uncontrollable spending, improper funding, and increasing the national debt by nearly 3 Trillion in the final 4 months of office.

Right now, we are at nearly 62% of debt to gdp.

That means we are at an all time low in growth.

Again, how did we get there and who put us there and how do we get out of that hole dug for us is the concern.

That means that every dollar taken in, 62 cents of it is already used in paying back loans. We have 38 cents to have to pay for every thing enacted, passed, funded, and earmarked for US programs.

If you believe that, you must also believe in the myth that Democrats care more about the poor and middle class than Republicans, Democrats like taking from the rich, but does all that taking really help the poor? All the evidence I've seen shows that it doesn't, in the long term all it does is help to destroy our economy.

That $787 BILLION Dollar stimulus, do you ever stop and wonder why you or your buddies in the private sector didn't get any that? Because most of that money went to Government, States that were over budget, Colleges that were over budget, Unions that are BILLIONS of dollars in the RED... And here you are defending $787 BILLION Dollars SPENT that didn't help the poor.

I'm in NO way for spending Billions to Stimulate the economy, I was against it when Bush did it, but when Bush did it, most everyone received a actual CHECK, you must of got one right?..

What did you receive with the Obama Stimulus again? Oh yeah, NOTHING... Because Democrats care more about the poor than Republicans do.

    FOOL

Instead of looking to Government to improve your life, why don't you look to yourself to improve your life instead? It works a lot better.

Love this analogy of somehow democrats being a modern day Robin Hood, "rob from the rich and give to the poor".

If that were true, then the total opposite would be the case with the Republicans..."take from the poor and keep it".

No matter how you look at it, the GOP abandoned their principles and core values...period! That is why you have an offshoot called the Tea Party. There is a great majority of this nation that would agree that the GOP have lost their way and continue to lose their way.

The GOP abandoned middle class americans like me. The GOP alienated themselves from the middle class and, yes, even the male white voter. That is precisely why the DEM's won the election (not so much Obama win) but the simple truthful fact that those that felt the GOP abandoned them, those people abandoned the GOP. Now the GOP is clawing and scratching their way to regain some resemblance of a party that cares about the common person.

Why do you think the Tea Party came to be? Do you think it is totally an anti-Obama crusade?

    You better think again.

Actually, it would be improper to say "think again" when the process is too foreign to you and others.

The Tea Party should scare the hell out of every one. When I look at Rand Paul, Paladino, Palin, O'Donnell and a few others and I look at their supporters, it's frightening to think that there is one solitary person behind them saying, He (She) speaks for me. That is scary. Can people be that easily swayed???

And where are the countless tens of thousands of Tea Baggers who are on their oxygen tanks, their HoverRound wheelie, smoking obese selves??? You know, the ones that say there is too much government interference, don't touch my medicare, and give me my country back??? Where is that 60+ crowd burning their Social Security Cards and Medicare/Medicaid cards in protest of the current administration and its policies. You know, like the good ol days when 18 year old guys burned their draft cards in protest of the Vietnam War. And women burned the bra as a symbol of freedom and emancipation and equality. Remember that?

Well, Hells Bells...it is now that same generation and age group that makes up the Tea Baggers. Protesting Uncle Sam's interference in the very programs that sustain their sorry, pitiful, lifestyle and existence.

So I say STOP and REPEAL the healthcare! Burn you Medicare/Medicaid Cards! Burn your Social Security Cards in protest! Unchain your self from that electric seat your fat ass occupies because you are too sorry to walk and exercise. Burn your Handicap Parking Placard hanging down in the mirror because you, America, are the ones that need to park far from the entrances so you get some exercise. But for goodness sakes NO SMOKING! or else you'll blow up have of the Tea Party movement if your get too close to the oxygen tanks and nasal cannulas!

In America, people don't like to think of themselves like being in a lower class. They like to think of themselves as potential millionaires.

That's the genius of the Tea Party—you take people who are themselves middle class or below, and make them focus on poor minorities so they think they're above somebody else... these people see themselves as being on the side of the rich guy. They don't think of themselves in being in that other group.

(Joe the plumber is the perfect example. Poor and unemployed, but some day he will own that big plumbing company and he doesnt want to be taxed on that 250K a year he will be earning.)

You'll never see me hit the "R" button come any election day.
Who are you trying to kid? The high profile liberals spewing this "spread the wealth" BS are "rich folks" in addition to many being self-proclaimed intellectuals, even a billionaire or two. Oldest political ploy in the world. Promise the moon. Deliver enough so your buddies profit. Looks like it didn't work so well this time. Must be that evil Glen Beck spreading the truth or Obama's former pastor getting lonely in that 10,000 square foot house he lives in. Good timing for his retirement, wouldn't you say. Maybe it was democrat's insistance that low down payment mortgages be made freely available to anyone that could sign their name. One could write a book about the democrat's responsibility for that disaster. That had a major role in the financial crisis. Don't forget the greed of citizens themselves.

Getting back to your rich people thing: Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi is worth over $100,000,000, according to her. Thats probbaly the top 5% of Americans and probably the top 5% of anywhere in the world. Obama himself is a multi-millionaire and keeps a sizable amount of that in "tax free" investments. He is obviously a capitalist when it comes to his own finances and wants to avoid paying taxes when he can, like most mortals. The Clintons are very wealthy. Probably better off than Pelosi. I would say that all of the high profile democrats are multi-millionaires. Using the rich as a political tool is not new. Dictators as an example, have used the rich as a scapegoat throughout history to gain political support.
Guess who the target is for their rhetoric. Guess who ends up with all of the stuff when they confiscate it in order to "spread the wealth".
    The dictator.

Imo, jobs being sent overseas accelerated after our post ww2 policy to help defeated nations recover from the war. It really took off with the electronics revolution. At some point Congress will be forced to act on this issue, but you will have to share the blame with many previous Administrations, including democratic.

What matters is the here and now and most Americans, I think, now realize the catastrophic mistake made here.
I think Obama has lied about his pledges, his beliefs and his political goals from day one.
This man and this party does not represent the hopes, wishes, or ideals of most Americans I know. His actions and the actions of the democratic majority in Congress have confirmed it. Don't forget members of his administration abandoning ship like the plague. That's a huge red flag, indicating something is seriously wrong within this administration.

Remember that all holders of a political office. including that of the President are only "our" representatives. They do not own their position. We are the boss. More importantly, you are your own boss.
If we have allowed someone irresponsible to run our country, then we have to accept some responsibility for things going awry and make the necessary changes, if required. That may require changing it quite frequently until we get someone that will do the job correctly and according to the Constitution.

The opportunity to rid ourselves of the tyranical rule by others was accepted by our fellow Americans and inherited by us.
Here's a few of the things that we presently allow our representatives to do.
Today's tyrants conduct illegal searches, seizures and wire taps, take away the rights of the innocent in the name of prosecuting the guilty, take your money to use as they see fit (spreading the wealth), attempt to circumvent and interpret the Constitution for their own goals. This is among a multitude of other requirements or restrictions that Congress and the President has imposed which are not found in the Constitution. Previous Administrations have imposed the same but are irrelevant in this election. It will take years to resolve America's financial and political situation, even if the right decisions are made.

What are you going to do about it?
Are you going to trade the Constitution for a fricking health-care plan?

Is this your rebuttal to Area52's post? A youtube link to a comedian liberal activist who's been dead for over 2 years?

It must be true what they say about debating with a Liberal, it runs a mile long and only 1 inch deep.

Yeah, these Rich politicians the poor always tend to support, support them because they believe they will be rewarded if they do, that somehow they will benefit from it, Not by less taxes but by more Government hand outs and expanding the welfare state. These are people who never get ahead in life, they live a life a failure blaming everyone else but themselves.

"Anti-Obama" is only part of the Tea Party movement, the Tea party came to be for several reasons; Government overreaching, Arrogance by politicians, Mandating that every person purchase private Health Care, the American people are really pissed off at the way it passed both Houses of Congress, Backroom deals, Bribery using Tax Payer dollars to vote "YES".. It infuriated a lot of people, And most people believe that mandating "Private" Health Care is un-constitutional..... Add to that, The democrats passing a $787 Billion Dollar Stimulus bill that was INTENDED to create jobs in the PRIVATE sector but went to the PUBLIC sector and Unions instead, which resulted in a 3% increase in the unemployment rate..

While 100,000 Americans were losing their jobs month after month after month, what was the President doing? figuring out new ways and to pass health care that the majority of people didn't want. What better indication could there be that Obama doesn't care about the working class in this Country?

I think these were the major ingredients for the Tea Party evolving..... And Republicans share in this as well, they didn't like both parties bailing out Wall Street and adding to the National Debt.

I also don't buy into your generalization that all Tea Party members are old, white and crazy Republicans... When in fact their Democrats, Independants, Libertarians and Republicans that simply want LESS Government and less intrusion in our lives. Many are even former Obama supporters who felt they were duped for voting for him, and rightly so.

war on middle class, raise sales taxes to all time high, hiring freezes, lay-offs

war or poor people...make them poorer and less healthy...by reducing food stamp benefits, free health clinics

war on students...cut grants, increase loan rates, raise tuitions, recind healthcare for 26

When I go to bed tonight, I'll wake up knowing that irregardless of the outcome we'll still be exactly where this country was today...We'll still have a Party of No who will be able to add more NO votes to every measure yet they will still blame Obama and the Democrats for not getting anything done, the Tea Party will still be so uninformed and ill-informed they'll now have to focus their attention elsewhere (perhaps remedial spelling classes?), and every side will still claim victory.

Americans will soon line up to cast their ballots. They will be choosing between dumb and stupid.

Dumb is voting for the completely inept and rather useless Obama-led Democrats. Stupid is electing the same party that just finished ruining the economy plunging the US into a deep recession and evaporating 25% of America's total wealth while diminishing America's image around the world.

As my grandfather said - you can work with a dumb person, but you cannot cure stupid.

Tea Party - well that's just idiotic.

Time to start paying that down, with those two first! I've seen a commercial - it's a lecture hall in China. The professor is discussing (in Chinese with subtitles) the fall of empires (Rome, British, American). They mentioned how they failed (bailouts, special interests, spending, etc.) and how they loaned so much to the USA and the final words are "Now, they work for us" and the whole class chuckles.

To give this umber some scope, if they taxed every person (who is on the records) in the USA (and they paid) that would only be roughly $1.2 billion - it would still take us about 1400 years to pay that down.

(Interesting adaptation on Roman numerals, though).
