The video isn't graphic but the emotional state of both the shooter and the board members under fire is quite intense.

I would nominate the board chief as Man of the Year. He offered himself up for sacrifice and asked the shooter to let the others go. Great man.
Luckily the shooter was a very bad shot and the security wan't.
The only person who was injured (physically by bullets) was the shooter.
While the video my not be graphic by many of us - it can be very disturbing to some people.
Yes, and the security guard needs a commondation for stepping in and drawing the fire away from the unarmed / defenceless people.
Apparently a lady did go in and try to distract him (hit him with her purse) but failed - he told her to get out.

the gun must be a defect at that range it should have killed anyone in its way....not to mention he most likely was using full metal jacket bullets
Nah, I'm willing to bet the shooter wasn't a good shot and add in his stress level and instability would make him an even worse shot.
Also, the caliber can play a huge role, a .38 will do a lot more than a .22. He missed everyone.
He's also lucky that CWP laws don't allow guns in government buildings (assuming that is where this took place) or else he might have been shot from someone who IS a good shot (CWP laws do allow you to intervene if you think someone else's life is in danger - but you do so at your own risk and you're responsible for any collateral damages that you do).

CNN has been showing this quite a bit.
A news conference just concluded with all the participants.
As for that "gun expert" from the CIA giving his opinion, the gun was a 9mm, Smith and Wesson, large capacity clips, and had a full box of ammo on him (per the Sheriff). There was no defects. If someone is not familiar with guns, just pointing in the general direction and pulling the trigger is not going to guarantee hitting anything.

as an aside:
just announced that Juarez has now topped 3000 deaths this year.
On a scale of deaths per Hundred thousand occupants, it is the deadliest place on earth with 200-250 deaths per 100,000 occupants.
In the NBC video there is extended audio (no video rolling) with several more shots exchanged between the shooter and the security guard. Somehow I am not convinced he took his own life, judging by his aiming skills he probably missed hitting his own skull. Glad no innocent person was harmed during the incident.
cnn is showing everything (except the deadly shot) including the swat team or officers storming into the room from several directions. They had no idea who was who so they were ordering everyone to freeze and get their hands up.
Very sad. What was the guy's motive for doing such a thing?
They said they were caps!

Not sure if you all saw the video of the woman who tried to help on CNN.
While I commend her for her bravery, I would urgently recommend her to take a few self defense classes before she tries anything crazy like that again![]()
She didn't react as a self defense specialist, but she aimed with her bag to cause the dropping of his gun. She was indeed very brave. He had her at his mercy afterwards.
That lady was foolishly brave, trying to help her defenseless friends and fellow board members.
She ended up on the floor right at his feet. The difference between life and death and decisions can not even be measured in milliseconds or any other time constraints. He simply chose not to shoot at her.

Caps? There are bullet holes all over the wall and chairs of the board members, holes in the doors and wall when he shot at he security person. As mentioned, the Sheriff came on to describe the gun make, the caliber, the bullets, the magazine and the quantity of bullets.
