Really? Why don't you cite for us those reports OK? Almost every study I have read indicates Marijuana is a precursor to other Drugs, most commonly cocaine and heroin.

As for locking people up for using drugs, it may surprise you to learn that most people serving time in our prisons are there for parole violations, using drugs while on probation.... I'm not for jailing non violent drug users either, I don't see the benefit other than trying to dry them out.

Back when I was in college, the psychology department did the same type of covert experiment on a group of students, using non alcoholic beer. They could have made a comedy movie with the end results.

Sure but what these reports fail to report is that addicts almost always start out with alcohol, not marijuana. People who end up as addicts don't do so because marijuana made them into addicts. They would of been addicted to something regardless. Its a personality trait more than anything.

Drugs & severe addiction are symptoms of flawed human beings with a weak constitution, people using marijuana recreationally (or for medical reasons) are completely in a different category than "drug addicts" this is the misinformation of yesteryear that has confused and polluted the issue in fact...It's a well known fact also that where kids can't get weed they sniff glue & huff paint or steal their parents dangerous & potentiall deadly prescription drugs.

Imo, kids should not be smoking weed or doing any drugs for that matter...drugs being defined as ANYTHING that changes the way your mind/body works. Let's not give them Ritalin or cough medicine either while we are at it. Marijuana has always been and will always continue to be the safest most benign psychoactive substance known to man with the lowest potential for abuse or serious damage to the user. The reason it is currently "illegal" in the USA still is because of outdated legislation from the 1930's that was made for flawed economic reasons at the time by a good friend & business assoc. of Dupont's who headed the smear/misinformation campaign against it because hemp/marijuana was direct competition to his Rubber/Plastic products. Do your research and learn before you start pointing fingers. If weed was NOT currently illegal people would be pointing the finger at alcohol or cigarettes as the "gateway" drug..which in fact would be the truth and that theory in the first place has limited application to people who have self control to begin with. I smoke weed all the time, I make six figures a year, I am a very intelligent & healthy human being and I don't do any other "drugs" or even take aspirin for that matter.

Women prostitute themselves for next fix, men ignore their families & sell their kids for next fix. Is this extreme or fact? Check the stats, check out what human trafficking is based on, drug use, addition.

I'm not trying to promote any Drug use to anyone (I'd tell somone to avoid cigarettes before anything else though) But you're bunching all illicit/illegal drugs together. There are some violent crimes going on at the "Major Dealer" level I'm sure over Pot ... But the stuff you're talking about is Drugs MUCH more dangerous and addictive. I've been a casual smoker off and on for a long time ... Sometimes going for years without bothering. If I'm in the mood - By all means I'll go get some (From someone who doesn't sell crack/pills/etc ... either BTW).

I can assure you there aren't people out offering sex acts for a "Pot" fix .. Nor are they selling their kids ... If adults are ignoring/abusing their families needs over a "Pot" addiction - It just means they were low life pieces of crap from the start.

Potheads are NOT the ones you see walking into convenience stores and fast food joints shooting everyone in sight for a few bucks to get a "fix" - In fact , If they do enter those places , It's to kill a Bag of Doritos or a Double cheeseburger ... Great for the munchies economy IMO ~

As far as all of the "Gateway" talk/facts - Can any of you honestly say there aren't people out there that were born with Addictive traits ? Some people may move on to "experiment" elsewhere , But I'll always believe certain people are just born "Addicts". Whether it be Drugs , Gambling , Extreme activities ... or What have you.

Did you read all my threads?

I think people should have access to any drug they need for health or medical reason. Narcotics can be worse than weed especially considering they are an opiate derivative, their properties are highly addictive. I have taken some pain meds and I hate them, I mean allot times they don't help with the pain and make me loopy for a few days. I hate that feeling. Blah!

Meds for pain and or health are great. I my opinion, recreational drugs is not cool. Like I said hate the drugs and what they do to people but love the people.
