NK is only flexing muscles

no more than any new kid on the nuclear block would do

once the other powers (USA, Russia, China, Japan, etc.) recognize what cards the North Koreans are holding, and how they will play them...then the poker game will continue.

the only way NK will get any trade, assistance, aid from the world powers is if they act like they are a threat.

after that, the negotiations begin.

imo...

A war with either North Korea or Iran will only end in a World War. Considering the only way the powers that be know how to drive an economy is by war then it wouldn't at all surprise me to see war with both in the near future. Also add to the fact that pretty much every government in power right now in nearly every country is run by lunatics and the people of all of these countries see through their lies and corruption it wouldn't surprise me one bit if the objective is just that.

How about going one step further?

They launch one nuke the fallout hits China and China does not want that.
So, China send few to USA and USA do not want that

Sounds like the movie "WarGames".

It doesn't matter who/why start, end is terrible especially when Nuclear is involved.

Eva, I always have babe.

We shall see how Obama handles this one...but keep in mind that all of those decisions for the most part are made by NATO. Not just Obama.

"I do not know how World War 3 will be fought, but I do know World War 4 will be fought with sticks and stones".

A major war scares the $h!t out of me - it would have the potential to turn most of the world's civilian population into refugees. All wars before this one were pretty localized, Korea, Vietnam, Europe, the Middle East, etc. but the next major war has the potential to be a true, world war with it's effects reaching just about every country and every person.

Those of us living in "luxury" now compared to the majority of the rest of the world - enjoy it while it lasts.

I think it is time to go re-watch Jericho (at least season one).

Yes, I agree that the North Korea situation is VERY worrying. However, it's NOT because of their WMD testing or whatever, but that their post Kim Jong-il transitional team is NOT listening to either China or Russia. I'm also amazed that some would STILL think that the US should or could act as the "world police" when North Korea is hardly their problem. The truth is, China has way much more to worry if their North Korea cousins become naughty. And very much like Iraq, North Korea does NOT have the capacity to threaten the US or the rest of the world, the best, or worst they could do to intimidate South Korea (and to a lesser extent Japan). Fortunately, Obama and Clinton are smarter people than their predecessors in the last 60 years, and I'm not too worried about them being recklessly engaged in military intervention. As a result, I don't see how China and the US could be at odds in this matter.

And to be honest, as long as the White House is not occupied by some warmongers, we'll ALL be fine. Don't worry. The worst is over.

I am absolutely amazed how some will take what Focus expressed and suddenly it turns into an Obama issue.

Here are facts, as best know because they are the most closed society in existence.

The country is the poorest on earth have focused all of its energies and resources on self gloating (bloating) projects.

Massive shrines, monuments, and buildings created to pay homage to self.

The country has undergone famine after famine and tens of thousands have starved to death.

The only accurate accounts come from one rail line and border crossing at the Chinese border. This is where indigenous peoples of that region live. The fear is that going into NK may be a final journey as Korea can and do close their borders often.

There are no luxuries and no benefit to having the unfortunate consequence of being born there. Food requirements and basic humanitarian needs are not common place.

Many experts agree that this is posturing by NK to force the hand of the western world to compromise in a way that will benefit NK.

The question remains - do they have the capabilty to make a nuclear weapon? there are as many doubts as there are confimations. Still, there is no proof that there has actually been a detonation or testing of nuclear capability. Yes, even this can be faked with several tons of C4, TNT, and enough nuclear waste material to cause a blip on the monitors.

This is a desolate nation. It is isolated. And they are desperate.

What else is there to say about a leader who loves cowboy movies, john wayne, and elvis presley, and proclaimed himself a God.

The only concern I would have is IF he has fallen ill and since naming his son as successor that somehow, someway he wants to go out with a bang.

Probably the closest answer and I would add...behind the curtains on things like this other countries pay off the bad guys to keep them in place...basically "bribe" me and I wont shoot off that missle yet...then bribe me again.

Seems like Russia and China are urging North Korea to return to talks.
What good would that do?
I don't think NK will ever give up only card they have.

Are you really that amazed?

You cant possibly be this blind and stupid to think N. Korea's test firing of a warhead had nothing to do with Obama.

What N. Korea is doing IS an Obama issue... It's a blatant "In-your Face" test for our new and naive President, who spent the first part of his Presidency blowing off his mouth with apologetic rhetoric of the last 8 years, thinking it would build "better" relations, That may work well for public opinion and the Bush haters of the world, but it doesn't work to our advantage when dealing with Tyrants like Kim Jong il who see it as a clear sign of weakness.

N. Korea's recent testing of a warhead is not only a provocation, it's a clear indication that Obama's diplomatic approach ISN'T working! and it's NOT going to work until he sends a strong signal of strength, Military strength, It's all these Dictators and Tyrants listen to, And don't think the mullahs in Iran are not waiting and watching to see what Obama does in response to N. Korea, they most definitely are.

NK is right next to China.
You think China will let USA nuke NK?

And where did that Alien thing slip in?
I don't think we are only intelligent beings, but, millions of alien space ships?
Facts?
