How do you explain such an upset? - For me it is unbelievable
- A Kennedy Seat, going Republican?
What would be the impact for Democrats and how would it affect Obama personally?

That number is horrible and really troubling
At the same time, that should have negatively effected Republicans not Democrats?

In addition, Mass already has their own version of obamacare. They don't want to make the same mistake twice. Not to mention his opponent was horrible. It was her seat to lose. Then Obama went and insulted Brown's driving a truck multiple times. The people want one of their own, not someone who puts everyone else down. Then there's all the back room politics in Washington, buying off congresspeople (Lousiana, Nebraska).
Among other things...

This is what you mean?
Here in Texas there is a slogan - "Buy a Truck, become a Texan"
I am driving a big Truck myself.
I did some more reading on the truck - Looks like it did not play well for the President!

In this day and age, does anyone really believe there is any difference between a Democrat and a Republican? If one can be honest with themselves, there is zero difference between the two. $12 trillion debt, war continues, same policies, same favors for big companies, lobbyists....
a misnomer...the "kennedy" seat.
I am strongly opposed to career politicians.
Am I the only person who finds it preposterous that only 1913 people (now 1914) have served as US Senator since the creation of that body???
Seriously, in 220 years only 1914 people have "spoken" for the people.
This country was not founded to create career politicians. That's a career? That is a career of power that no one wants to relinquish.
I just find it astounding that people can serve 30, 40, 50 years or more and still be sitting in a senate seat over the age of 100.
So, what went wrong is this was "THE" Kennedy seat but now no Kennedy occupies it.
Time for nostalgia and "the way its always been" to move aside.
Think about it a minute. Think of all those people who have occupied their seats for the past 5, 10, 15, 20 years or more. And they want to know what went wrong, what happened, and pass the blame around?
Because he was the most qualified?:

Did anyone see Coakley being interviewed?
She was clueless to Mass and Boston.
A reporter asked her what she thought of Schilling coming out and supporting Brown. He went on to say that Schilling stated he felt she was out of touch with the people.
She committed a deadly sin - she thought Kurt Schilling was a Yankee and said she was not concerned about what a Yankee fan thought.
The reporter was stunned. He had to remind her that he played for the Red Sox, won the Championship for Boston, was a surefire Hall of Famer, and asked her if the "bloody sock" meant anything to her.
She might as well have stood on picther's mound in Fenway Park and said "Sox Sux!" after that.
Lamar Alexander, Senator from Tennessee said it best;
“Massachusetts voters have sent a clear message that the Democratic majority in Congress is not in touch with the American people"
I couldn't agree more.
So what went wrong you ask? "Obama" and congress, their FAILURE to deliver the change they voted for in November...
This win was a rejection of the President and his agenda, a rejection of what Democrats have been ramming through congress this past year. The arrogance on the part of the President and congress didn't help either, doing what they want and ignoring the will of the people angered a lot of Americans, enough to strip the seat away from Democrats who have held if for 6 decades.
And what better person to take it from, the late Ted Kennedy, a murderer who held for the seat for 46 years... His death could not of happened at a better time, Halting a partisan health care bill the people overwhelmingly reject, and halting Cap and Trade that was sure to cripple this already weak economy.
As for Martha Coakley, her "Blame Bush" theme didn't work for her, And it didn't work for Obama either when this FOOL flew to Boston to campaign for her, A FOOL who actually thought he had coat tails.

This is just the response Libs and Dems are dishing out on the networks, BLAME IT ON COAKLEY. Blame it ALL on her, choose one comment she made and blame her loss on that.. Your posts are laughable as always, you ignore what the voters are saying, you ignore the polling data that shows it was more about Health Care, more about congress and the direction this President taking the country.
You can put the best spin on this you want to, your NOT fooling anybody, with the exception of your idiot followers of course.

Please vote Republican in 2012, America can not sustain another 4 years
of Liberal policies that are fiscally and socially destroying the country..
What went wrong??? You libs shouldn't have voted a socialist, anti-America, capitalist-hating, radical, moron into office. Now, we're going to vote the dems' asses out of office. Thank you voters in Massachusetts. You've given us hope to recover from this disaster known as Obama.

I've got more where these came from!
Party politics may or may not have mattered in this issue.
Sure, that's what many are saying.
But the fact is this woman was SOOOOOOOOOOOO detached from people and issues. I am not sure who she thought she was or where she thought she was.
Look at the Kurt Schilling thing I pointed out at top (still hearing many on television talk about this).
Come to find out, when told by her staff she needs to go out and do some "meet and greet" stops, she declined saying it was too cold out.
Yes, the issues maybe were paramount. But to many Bostonians and Massachusetts residents, her disconnect with the people she was supposedly going to represent did her in.

I am hearing news people already announcing him as front runner for the GOP in 2012!!!
Amazing...could this be the handsome GOP version of the John Kennedy?
I am sitting here listening to some analysts talking about a run in 2012 for the president.
One down to earth political pundit said, the reality is, he has been elected to fill in the remainder of Teddy's seat.
He would either be a hit or out of a job in two years.
But, what the heck...just for giggles, look and see if you can find any domain names available to reg.
Of course, saying Kurt Schilling was a Yankee fan...someone said that is as sinful as saying Derek Jeter is being traded to the Red Sox.
You took the words right out of my mouth. I would add that nobody in America wants a complete overhaul of the health care system especially one that would lead to socialist health care like Obama wants. If they really want to help the average citizen with health care costs they should do three things.....
1) Tort reform
2) Being able to buy insurance across state lines.
3) Stop insurance companies from being able to deny people coverage because of a preexisting condition. Everyone has some form of preexisting condition.
Now who would disagree with what I have proposed???
..

I was actually a little bit shocked by her "its too cold out" response to take the opportunity to go out and meet and greet the public.
All of that reminded me of some of the nobility in history that would not mix with the commoners. She must have thought that she was the queen and everyone in Massachusetts were her subjects.
