This is an issue where McCain and Obama both show they have no clue what the American people want. You would think they would have both gotten the message last time they tried to sell American sovereignty down the river........both are morons when it comes to illegal immigration.

Honestly, since first elected to the House in 1982, who do you think has done the "most selling out"? About 26 years in office?

I am a huge proponent for term limits for congress. This country's founders did not intend for people to become career politicians.

I don't care if it is dem or GOP.

It gets to the point of "a government for the people, by the few". Political aspirations are fine but this is why I stated earlier in another thread that our Legislative branch needed a massive enema.

As for the fortune in the USA? That seems to be diminishing as the jobs dry up for every one. Just read yesterday that the immigrants are back to heading more southward as jobs are rapidly diminishing.

Call this another massive blunder - virtual fence, 70 miles long, along a 2700 mile border. Who comes up this this absolutely stupid ideas and endorses them?

I know for a fact that if I press 1 for English, I will be forwarded to someone at a call center in India who speaks broken English. What happens if I press 2 for Spanish, do they also get the call center in India, or does that go to Latin America somewhere?

Tired of that sh!t, no tolerance for it at all. Bank Of America and their bilingual bank statements suck! I'm an American living in Europe, assimilating. I can't imagine marching through the streets of Poland, waving an American flag, and demanding the Polish government give me citizenship. The Celts settled this land a couple thousand years ago, I'm AngloCeltic, maybe I should use the Latino argument, and demand Poland is my land.

The US will lose some of it's states within the next 50 to 100 years, they will be claimed by a new culture.

Several years ago, a big movement in Montana was initiated to succeed from the US. This movement was to get the referendum on the ballet for a vote.

The reason? They did not want to pay US taxes. The plan? To join Canada.

Canada gave it the boot saying they didn't want them.

    What a hoot!

Oregon has massive resources, we'd probably be better off without the cesspool in DC.

The measure had been proposed previously. But how are earth is something like this ever going to get passed with it having to be voted on in both houses of Congress?

I look at people like Jesse Helms, Strom Thurman - two undeniable racists and bigots and homophobes (Jesse, prior to passing, did admit many, many mistakes over the years) and Robert Byrd and Ted Kennedy.

The only seats appointed for life are the US Supreme Court yet these Congresspersons perceive their seats as being life appointments.

Exactly. That was the intent from the onset and most historians and constitution experts will tell you that - the common man was to be represented by the common man (or woman).

That is why we have seen so much of representation "by the few".

But a person newly elected in year xxxx and retires from 48 years later? RETIRE? From the Senate? Come on. That was not the intent when this was set up.

Think this is not a problem and does not create an atmosphere of partisonship?

How about corruption, bribery, "contributions" from special interests and lobbyists.

Seroiusly Look at this chart and these figures.

    Simply staggering!!!

It is almost as if these people where around when the Declaration of Independence was signed.

Strom Thurmond - Really, how effective was he at age 100 and STILL in the senate when he turned 100.

He opposed the Civil Rights Act of 1957 by conducting the longest fillabuster in US Senate History. Yet fathers a black child after he had an affair with a maid.

I have a great deal of respect for that child, Essie Mae Washington-Williams, who is now a young woman. She kept her true parentage secret THROUGH NO ARRANGEMENT OR AGREEMENT not to discredit the Senator or cause embarrassment to her mother.

Truly a remarkable woman and is due a great deal of respect from all, especially the citizenry of South Carolina who for countless years voted for Senator Thurmond thinking they were still voting for segregation and as a voice to keeping the Confederate Flag along with the state flag flying over the state capital. This was a fixture from 1962 to until 2000.

As the saying goes, ignorance is bliss. For that matter, no one knew the truth of Senator Strom Thurmond.
