Angry windows vista HELLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!

About to go crazy here.

Working on a new laptop, vista installed.

I don't care how many settings I have changed, I have yet to find the method of turning changing settings for the screen to go blank

If I am not doing something with hands on the computer, the screen goes black in one minute.

I have though I changed this in every area I know how...but no luck!!

If you know EXACTLY WHERE AND HOW to change, this ... PLEASE POST!

This is a Lenovo notebook in case that has anything to do with it.

And I believe windows Vista Home Premium.

My friend has/had a lenovo, had the same exact problem.. they sent him new hd's, new screen, sent it in to have it repaired, they didn't have the parts to do it, sent it back, sent a tech to his house to fix it with no success... they ended up refunding him 100% of his money.

Sorry that I don't have a resolution, but contact them asap.

I have Vista on my laptop as well. Windows is like the Federal Government. We need to go to Linux or FreeBsd.

Yeah I'll agree zurc.net, delete norton and everything else it's no good. I had some problems with their automatic updates and turned everything off (installed a third party spyware/malvare/antivirus/firewall software), now it all works fine.

As for your specific problem, I have Asus Z53series notebook (Vista home premium preinstalled) and the only place where (I think..) you can set that kind of options is control panel > Power options.

You can make various combinations of power plans, behaviors of the buttons, what happens when you close the lid etc...

Go to control panel, power options and click "choose when to turn off the display". You have two scenarios, plugged in and on battery. Make the desired settings and see what's happening.

Two screenshots included.

If this doesn't help you I really don't have an idea what could cause that...

I've done all those steps as those were about the only place i was able to find options. I may end up going back and setting as default and starting over.

(translated from dutch vista, so not kill me on the exact english words used)

START ---> SETTINGS ---> CONFIGURATION PANEL

select "classic view"
scroll down to "personal settings"
"screen saver"

"change energy saving options"

en next popup change the energy profiles

ps:
screensaver "none" could be set

I found Lenovo Energy management in addition to the Vista thing.

I changed these settings as well.

Lets hope for the best.

YEEEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW

The problem was in a Lenovo Energy Management.

I have another laptop with Vista (an HP) and I have never had an issue like this.

I thought that might be the problem, but could not find it, and came upon it accidentally.

Well, Lenovo - ya coulda told me!
