This is actually a very compelling paragraph. As Iran goes deeper and deeper into the mountain and fortified underground facilities, this sentence indicates that any use of "bunker busting" bombs will have little effect. Essentially, there would be little effect of conventional weaponry against these facilities.

Its hard to take a look at this scenario and not see the window closing.

Israel is in the driver's seat here. I have little doubt that Israel will launch an airstrike as a preemptive measure. This will draw the US, UK, and other nations into the foray. I am sure plans are already underway. The Israeli Air Force will launch with AWACS flying over head calling the shots, UK and US missiles taking out Iran radar sites, possibly US and UK stealth fighters flying overhead to take on any Iranian Air Forces.

Many believe that the Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon was a practice run for targeting bombing and strikes in a metropolitan area, such as Tehran.

Even though we may be "getting out of Iraq", the military will still have a very strong presence in the middle east primarily at Kuwaiti bases.

I also think the US/UK navies are going to play a huge role in launching missiles, aircraft, and totally decimating Iran's Navy. Iran is very proud of its Navy and has really been beefing up its naval forces and building new ships.

As for the Iranian Air Force, even though many are trained in the US and they have US, UK, French, Russian, and Chinese aircraft, they are no match to the Air Forces of the US, UK, and Israel. The US and UK groups have the advantage of being very active in Iraq and Afghanistan and honing their skills. Taking out Iran's anti-aircraft missiles and sites will be paramount.

The biggest issue I see here is Iranian forces dragging other nations into this battle, unwillingly. I think Iran will fire on ships in the Straits of Hormuz and Persian Gulf. Additionally, they will fire upon and set on fire countless oil facilties and refineries all along these areas. They might even fire into Turkey (being a NATO nation), fire missiles into Kuwait and attempt to take out our Naval stations in Oman, Qatar and other nations.

Oil prices will skyrocket which is really going to piss off China and Russia. We don't get much crude from Iran but that is not the case with China and Russia. The very fact that the Persian Gulf will be a war zone and all tankers will be sitting ducks, the price of crude will hit record highs - again.


It is not a matter of whether this will happen. It is simply a matter of when.
