420 domains

I've just registered 420s.com and was thinking of using it to promote an adult site. Neither site will be used to sell supplies or equipment.

This isn't really my world, so I'm not sure what the legal situation is. I know that Bush has been shutting down Internet headshops.

Should I leave this name alone and sell it to someone more knowledgeable, or can I use it without too much trouble?

420s seems more like a natural name "for twenties" - if by "adult site" you mean something using models purporting to all be twenty years old. The endless variety of "niche porn" never ceases to amaze, like cross-eyed-asian-married-lesbians.com.

Porn makes sense to me, and I no longer understand drugs. Geez, I really am getting old.

I guess I'm just dense. You mean you registered 420s.com in order to use it as an affiliate site for 420.com, like the site you listed above? Or you want to list the domain name for sale, but have links to 420.com?

Are you worried about the 420.com people coming after you for using a confusingly similar name, or are you worried about the feds coming after you over pictures of people smoking what purport to be marijuana cigarettes?

I don't have a problem with the 420 people. In fact I have an affiliate agreement with 420girls.com who own the copyright to the pictures I'm using.

The problem is that I believe that the cigarettes are genuine banned products, and I'm not sure what the law is if I am seen to be apparently encouraging illegal behaviour. There are numerous films and other sites doing this now, so I suspect that it will just be considered as "entertainment".

I don't think there is any way to tell from a picture what is inside a cigarette.

Showing people smoking cigarettes, or even telling people "Smoke Dope" is not illegal.

Whether your affiliate agreement contains any provisions relevant to the use of similar domain names is something you might want to look at.

Re: the domain names - they are aware that I've got it, and don't seem to mind. I actually do this quite a lot. I promote Big Naturals with www.bignaturally.com and MILF hunter with www.milfgirls.com, and a few others like this. Sponsors seem happy to take the hits

Drink has affected my ability to "gambol" in the past.

On one occasion I was next to a stunning girl at the end of an evening in a London wine bar. I started talking to her and she looked at me and said "What good are you going to be to me in that state". So drink probably ruined my whole life

And here I was only toking on April 20th. Now I realize I can do it everyday.
