    I'm not an expert here, although I'd imagine that copying the structure of the fourm is against copyright.

    This is because the structure makes up part of the content of a forum. Content is copyrightable. Hence copying the structure means copying the content (and so breaching the copyright).

    Yes, but the forum categories and subcategories and their particular order flow, that is what I am trying to ascertain whether they can be effectively copyrighted

    Perfectly legit as long as Colour schemes , look and feel and direct cloning is not done...

    There are many forums like DNFORUM.com - for instance namepros which has a very similiar structure...
