Angry High Value Names Won at Snapnames, what if not delivered to me?

I recently won two very high value names at snapnames (xx,xxx). They have not yet been delivered to me. snapnames is checking with enom on why, but snapnames seems concerned. The whois contact info has changed from the previous owner's name to a privacy service, yet the domain still shows as expired. So, I'm concerned too. I want the names. I have plans for them and feel I got them at a very good price.

Has there ever been cases where a winner of a snapnames auction has paid and the names are not delivered?

If so, what could cause this? The name is dropped, but would enom bend to the threats of a previous owner finding out after the drop that he's missed his chance to renew? Are there ever shenanigans at enom (or snapnames I guess) where they are contacted by someone wishing to pay more and then they are sold for a higher value and put under privacy?

If I don't get the names, and get my money back (which I'm not worried about), what recourse do I have? Especially if I cannot see who the new owner is due to privacy? It would seem that I will have been ripped off by some party however this may have played out. I don't mind paying legal fees for these prime names.

BTW, I'm not making any accusations here; just thinking this through.

EDIT TO ADD: Both names were previously owned by the same person.

My guess, enom decided to keep the names for themselves.

Can they do that once it goes to snapnames, and bidding has completed, with around $35,000 of winning bids for the two names?

Wouldn't that piss off snapnames, whom I'd think they want to not piss off?

These days, registrars seem to be able to do anything they want and get away with it. PM me the names, I'd like to take a look.

Got your PM. I think I know the deal. Those two names are some of the premium .INFO domains that have been tied up with Afilias because of fake trademarks files during the .INFO landrush. There are quite a few of these and what is going to happen with them is anybody's guess. I think Snap has made some mistakes recently and auctioned some of them when in reality they could not be given to an auction winner because Afilias has not released them. I read a similiar story about another Snap auction for one these recently - can't remember the domain or the forum where I read it. Bad news, I don't think you will be receiving these names. Enom has nothing to do with this fiasco.

Here's another thread about this...

I appreciate the info Nameguy. What a fricken bummer. I really had a good gameplan for those names. I'll update the thread on what happens, tomorrow I assume.

Sometimes I really hate the domain game.

I think I'm going out for a drink.

When you see this in the whois for the .INFO domain, you know you've found a .LIMBO not a .INFO

Yea, I think any of us could find a good plan for those names.

Sorry for the bad news. Keep at it...

So, it's official. The names are not going to be released to me I called the .info regristry yesterday and the woman told me that enom had coincidentally just given them a call, at the request of the snapnames query. They told enom that they should not have been released to auction. So, snapnames didn't do anything wrong, relying on enom to give them the right information.

What a bummer.I get my $35K back, but I'd rather have the names.

Guess what: there are other expiring names that will meet the same fate

Hey, also with snapnames, can someone explain something here that someone pointed out to me in a PM about the auction for Government.info I was in? Notice there is no "bum" in the initial bidding. I had the second highest bid. Then Piety took over and won. But, then his payment failed. THEN, instead of awarding me the name, this guy "bum" shows up and takes the name. What the hell? Can someone explain this to me before I contact snapnames and ask them about it?

It turns out that those two top bidders are partners, and they requested the substitution of accounts before the auction ended. meaning they wanted the different registration in the account details.
