Exclamation Homeland Security enforcing expired trademarks!

This is a bit hard to believe, but apparently true:

Homeland Security Agents Visit Toy Store
"One of the things that our agency's responsible for doing is protecting the integrity of the economy and our nation's financial systems and obviously trademark infringement does have significant economic implications," she said.

Re: Homeland Security enforcing expired trademarks!

Was it supposed to be a trademark complaint or a copyright complaint?

I'm not US-based. And it's things like these that make me think a hundred times
    before migrating there.

    I've heard worse, actually.

Actually it might even be a patent complaint.
It's very confusing and Homeland Security has no business being involved, even if it wasn't expired.
Big argument about it on Slashdot but I doubt it's good taste to link to another forum.

This is the least of your worries about moving to the USA, try Canada perhaps. No place is a perfect mecca but I am downright embarassed when talking to foreigners about my country and that's a terrible thing indeed.

Re: Homeland Security enforcing expired trademarks!

homeland security still sounds like a bad sci-fi shows concept to me. In this case though it was customs agents who are supposed to keep out illegal imports who visted the store, and they are now under the homeland security as they 'gaurd' the border, and INS has been done away with and made into part of homeland security. It is going to get worse before it gets better.

Off topic, let me extend my best wishes to all of you who are voting for your
    next President on Nov. 2.

IMHO, Bush should definitely be out.

Okay, back on topic: aww, don't worry, no one's perfect. But I also the US,
Canada, every place has many good things to offer.
