Ouch. Since you had it listed for sale and they already saw that (and, no doubt, kept a screenshot), suddenly listing it not for sale won't help you at all. Not selling things right now certainly won't convince Porsche that your intentions are noble, as you could always suddenly change your mind yet again (like you did on the for sale issue) and put ads up. Without a signed legal document guaranteeing that you won't do anything to infringe upon them I very much doubt they'll just back off at this point. They've pretty much got you over a barrell.

You desperately need to contact a lawyer if you want to try to hold onto the name, or even just to try to minimize the potential liability you've set yourself up for.

You don't have to get nasty or throw insults. But if you post bad information in a legal issues forum, you should not get nasty when someone points out your errors.

Not true. I've had the same experience with Porsche. If you just take the for sale signs off the domain they will back off. I have three domains with the Porsche trademark in the domain name and received C & D's for all 3. I didn't sign anything, nor did I send anything back. I simply took them "off-sale" at my site, Afternic, and sedo and changed the Whois to a basic non-domainer registrant with my info. They never pursued me again and left the issue alone. They have filed many disputes since then, and I have not been included in them, nor have the domains I own. They pursue the guys who simply do not respond and don't make any changes to fix the problem. People profiting off their trademark is what they are trying to remedy!

Namedropper> "although I wouldn't take Garry Anderson's word for anything, because he has consistently proven himself a crackpot"

I am not too worried about what Dan has to say about me.

It is most obvious Dan is very jealous of me.

His mental state is so rare, and unusually low, it does not even have a name for it - so he truly aspires to be a genuine crackpot like me one day ;-)

I live in hope that Dan will have the intelligence see that his insults can be better bounced back at him

Seriously though - I have stated that my opinion (although well informed) is nothing compared to legal advice from John B. etc.

Incidentally, even the brilliant Dan cannot disproved the evidence that US Registered Trademark System is a sham - at best described as a Zip Code Lottery ;-)
