No matter if a server crashes, some pissed off dude pulls the plug due to prices not at a point they wanted, a missed bid, somebodies computer crapping out etc....

When an auction is set to end and Ends, The Auction is OVER! It really should be that simple.

If MTLD didn't want Music.mobi ending for $66K, then they should of had a reserve on it that made them happy. Plus it's sedo's fault for having so many auctions ending at on time. How dumb is that anyway! Spread them out thru a couple days. This not only takes away the server crash issue (or somebody pulling the plug) but allows bidders to save up some more funds for a couple days...

If I had let's say 10 LLL.com's and was selling them at auction... I forsure wouldn't list all of them at the same time. Spread them out thru 10 days or whatever.

The fact remains, the auction was set to finish at a set earliest time, ie at some point after a set time, not before. Whoever was leading before that set time is totally, absolutely, 100%, irrelevent. What if it crashed 5 minutes before it did - then you'd be looking at another set of disgruntled bidders - 5 minutes before, another set, and so on....

They may be disgruntled, but surely they had plenty of opportunity to Bid, it was their choice not to bid until the end, this sort of crash should serve the 'snipers' right IMHO. My sympathies lie with the $66k bidder. Sedo is guilty of too many of these dubious practices, I hope he wins and brings some transparency to these auctions as sashas stated.

In the world of auto auctions which is my expertise, when the auctioneer says "sold" , the item is SOLD, period. for better or worse. for legal purposes ownership is considered to have transferred at that exact moment. I believe there is law behind this as the auction houses follow it meticulously. seems like the same laws would apply to domains.

I can't stand sedo. I have never had a transaction go smooth with them. They are slow and non responsive.

Just got a domain name I waited nearly three weeks for because it sat in their escrow account while they made ppc rev from it...of course I paid the day I "won" it..lol

What if a referee called full time on a football match 10 minutes before the end - he would get out the stadium alive!

75% (or more probably) of auction action is in the last few minutes.

If so, and sedo shows proof of this, then the lawsuit really has no merit.
Perhaps the judge will call digit 12 and digit 13 to the stand to give evidence. The lack of transparency wont help.

Any time an auction has had issues where the site was unaccessable the auction was done over again the next day. This has happened to me several times on snapnames. No one complained that they should of won the name regardless. If you don't like sedo, thats one thing but no matter what sedo would of done, someone would of complained.

Tell me one thing: bidders 12 and 13 joined the auction AFTER the crash...if you were that much interested in a name to bid 600k on it, wouldn't you join the auction right at the beginning just so that you can monitor its progress? I don't know about you guys, but I surely would...even if I bid the lowest amount possible and just sit still until the final moment

But who's to say 12 and 13 couldn't access the site with 5 minutes left in the auction?

So those sedo morons make hundreds of thousands of dollars each month off the industry and they can't afford to upgrade their servers so that they can handle the load and not crash everytime?

Personally, "server problems" or not, I fully agree with this. Site problems keeping out a couple snipers vs. telling someone they won the name and even going through the motions (i.e. asking them to submit payment) and then extending the auction...the latter is DEFINITELY worse and should never have happened. sedo just didn't want to lose out on potential higher commission.

Question. Who will run the auction to sell off the sedo assets to satisfy the court ruling on this one?

Question. How many sedo employees will be able to get another job in this business?

Question. Who here plans on moving domains to Sedo in the next few months?

That member may have been me Smash, although I never said so in those many words. I said I was "Suspicious", and looking at the way sedo's handled this, I have every reason to be so.

But then, it doesn't really matter at the end. We can't sit here and decide the fate of the internet or any future TLD
