    RE: www.nauru.org

    Dear Sirs,

The Republic of Nauru respectfully requests that you release and
transfer the domain name www.nauru.org to the Nauru Consulate in the
United States. The Consul General has requested that this office
develop and host this specific domain as an online resource for Nauru
citizens in the US, as well as for traveler's aid, visa & passport
    information online.

There are international laws, as well as ICANN Registry decisions
regarding domain name squatting, but we feel this matter can be
resolved without third party involvement, in a friendly and
    professional manner.

Please feel free to contact me directly via e-mail (SR@representative.com)
    or
via telephone (1-202-421-9090) at any time to work out the details of
this transfer. Thank you in advance for your considerations.

    Sincerely,

    Steven M. Ray

Hehehe ... Unfortunately it's registered at OnlineNic where the Registrant name can't be easily replaced ;-)

Anyone wants to transfer it at his Registrar ?
We sell it for US$100 by PayPal :(

We got higher offers refused in the past and now we've trobles with it - this's sad.

Nauru is a very small dot in the Pacific Ocean near the Equator. Apart from the consulate which wants the name, it's hard to think of another entity out there that would be interested in nauru.org.

This is not legal advice, but if it was me I'd ask for $350 to settle and be happy.

I agree. I have even settled for $250 in that kind of situation. I have pointed out that I have expended time and incurred various expenses to date, and that I am just trying to get out of the name without a loss.

Nauru has one of the highest per capita incomes in the world, and they do not have a trademark for the geographic term "Nauru".

Give it to me, and I'll put up a website about how Australia raped Nauru of much of it's natural resources (and paid the natives a pittance), leaving it scarred and barren.

    PM me if you're keen.

Does it make you feel like you're in the big leagues when they "comma knockin bout" some name you regged? If they wanted it,they could have got it just like you did.

Doesn't Nauru have its own country code that they can put their official sites under? (What <I>is</I> the country code of Nauru, anyway?)

At least they seem to be clueful enough to be seeking the <B>.org</B> domain for their noncommercial site rather than <B>.com</B>...

Whoops... apparently HTML tags don't work here... (but they did in another thread in this same section... what gives?)

Thanks all for your opinions and suggestions.
Yes, probably they've no trademark and no legal right on Nauru.org; we asked them to pay only $300 to cover our costs and our time ... still no news after 3 days so I suspect they can't do anything to get it ;-)

    Problem solved successfully.

They can get it if they want, don't ever doubt that.

You might not have heard from them because they started the process of grabbing the domain.

This exact scenario just happened on a .info and the country won.

Stick to your offer Luigi. If they decide to go through the UDRP process, it will only cost them three times as much and take much longer with no guarantee of winning the name. They would be much wiser to accept your offer.
