What is the nature of your question?
If you are new to domains and looking to buy, sell and learn about domains then you have come to the right place. DNForum is the largest domain name community on the internet and continues to grow every day. There are over 105,000 domainers on DNForum doing everything from buying domains, selling domains, learning about domains and discussing domains. Take a minute and Register.
Register Today on DNForum IT'S FREE!I actually more of a web programmer but I like to offer domain and Hosting and I have been paying for the ability to do so for years. Yesterday I was told something I never knew and should've, so I am coming here to get edgumacated.
This site is huge and seems to lean towards the domain business. I need some knowledge but it is daunting to figure out which forums are most likely to have the information I need. Also getting "378 Unread Posts" in a day is mind boggling. I guess I need to figure out how to filter stuff here.
Any suggestions for what I should follow (or hints on how to do it) will be greatly appreciated. Also, if you know of another site better suited to us little guys, I won't tell DNForum you told me about it.![]()

Your in the right place if you want to make money with domains.
It sounds to me like you've finally come home. Welcome!
In general, I think you'll find some great information & direction here.
Just read, read & read. & learn.
& we have tons of knowledgable Texans here.
fyi, Disregard the "378 Unread Posts" - that just tells you how many total posts have been made here in the forum since your last post/joining.
Again, welcome to DNForum.
Since the Registrant is the "asset" owner (didn't know that) how do I do the work of getting the name for them, host it and technically support it but still leave them as the Registrant. (At least that's the first one I have.)
Make money? a: YES!
with domains a: At this point I am not sure.
Aren't all of us Texans knowledgeable?
I know what the count means but figuring out which one I want to read is ... crazy.
Create an account for them at the registrar where the domain is located. If they want to "control" the domain, push the domain into their account and leave yourself as the "technical contact". Otherwise, you can put any name you want into the Registrant Info, it's who controls the account where the domain is that matters most. All of the info for a domain can be changed daily but at the end of the day the person that controls or owns the account, owns the domain...Since the Registrant is the "asset" owner (didn't know that) how do I do the work of getting the name for them, host it and technically support it but still leave them as the Registrant. (At least that's the first one I have. )
Does that answer your quesiton?

Pretty much. I was dealing someone, an ex-boss and friend, and wanted him to give me control if it to save myself headaches trying to get him to make any changes. I thought "Registrant" was just the person who had control of the registration. When I asked him to make me the registrant he balked at the idea because he wanted to list the domain as an asset. I let it go but I am worried that if he wasn't a friend that I might have blown a support contract. I wanted to make sure that I don't make that mistake sagain
Thanks, everybody.
Yeah, this place is a little overwhelming but I find it very valuable to look at different discussion areas, even for things I'm not interested in. You learn a lot and the people here are very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.
