Hi From Georgia

I've been reading the forum for a little bit now and I've seen alot of great postings which has certainly helped out with getting started domaining. Any recommendations on what to read\buy for a beginner? I've seen lots of ads for all kinds of educational products such as the Domain Graduate, Domain Manifesto, Secrets of Internet Marketing and so on. Along with tools such as D.R.T. Anybody have any suggestions to what to start first with?

just read a lot of information...old posts etc(don't reply just read). Look at names sold here and on other sites and gauge market, find a niche and stick to it.

I am in atl now on a business trip.

Read, read, read, read, read, read, read and then digest.

Then, when you think you have it all down, go back and repeat step #1.

Welcome to the community, too!

Welcome!

I wouldn't recommend buying any of those items, there's so much free material. Just Google any question you have and your going to find the answer. One my personal favorite reading items is very old but still very relevant. Check out erealestate.com, not only a great domain name but some good material too.

Welcome aboard. Scanning the board here every day will help you get a feel for what works and what doesn't. Then there's a point where you just have to jump in and give it a try. I'd start with a niche you like, something you know, and don't try to guess what will be popular. Especially if you're thinking about developing.

Hey Big D,

I'm a newbie in Atlanta also. I found Domain Graduate to be quite beneficial. Plus Sean Stafford [the author] has really gone out of his way to be very helpful to me.

If you have more time than money, you could probably get by with just reading on the net. But if your time is limited, my opinion is that Domain Graduate will likely save you a good bit of time and give you an excellent grounding in the basics. There's a good chance that it will also save you money in the long run by helping you to avoid common mistakes.
