Is there any value for .net idns?
what if i found a nice idn with .net ext
should i reg it

Yes. It depends of course on what other opportunities you have for the same money but many of us die-hard IDNers register .net (I do). Some of us don't ever touch it, preferring .com or ccTLDs.

If it is a popular keyword with high OVT or high bids on overture bid tool though the chances are that the .net will be in demand too and will hold some value.

It works the same as for ascii names .

a good name is a good name, chances are you have to piggyback on a .com sale but it will still hold considerable value compared to the .com.

In terms of type-ins, .net perform 5-15% as well as .com when it comes to Chinese IDN (traffic within China). This estimate is roughly based on comparable terms, SERP, ovt us and ovt cn (when it was working last year).

I picked up .net if the term was big and category defining, but not otherwise.

I will take a .nets for keywords, cities or generics. For end users that can't get the .com it is often "the second best option". What really matters in the end is the content, website design, SEO, links and advertising...basically having the "website product" that will make a site successful for an enduser and not only get traffic but REPEAT visitors and referrals. I believe one of the key search engines algorithms looks for keywords and relevance to the search. In that instance "bulldozer.com" and bulldozer.net" have a fairly level playing field for those searching that term. The big value can be for the enduser that buys the .com and will pay whatever to obtain the .net too!

In terms of percentage of registration, I think that in ascii .coms register 10 to 1 to dot nets. In idns, I believe it is currently running 3 to 1, but the percentage of .nets will probably drop as registrations increase.

The .net will also be valuable... When was the last time people could buy an ascii keyword or dictionary .net for reg fee? (meaning that you'll get more than reg fee if you sell it later on)
