NNNN.mobi's worth a shot?

Since the NNN.mobi's are gone, is it worth trying for NNNN.mobi?
Only 9,000 (starting with 1000) vs 17576 LLL.mobi's

Re: NNNN.mobi's worth a shot?

I disagree. Well worth a punt on 1 or 2. Will be easier to type on a mobile keypad than LLLL and internationally recogniseable unlike any alphabet. I have two memorable combo's just in case.

Re: NNNN.mobi's worth a shot?

I picked up 2: '3535' and '2828'. However I don't hold out much hope. Seems as though it's NNN or nothing at the moment in terms of value.

For now yeah I think you are right, but if .mobi gets the development we have been promised then a lot of companies will look at NNNN.mobi names I believe. I definitely think NNNN.mobi is a better investment than a random LLLL.mobi at this moment.

I agree. I got some good NNNN.mobi's.
I got:
0360
0365
0247
0987
0777
I think they will climb in value soon. I went with my gut on this one. It's only 4 key strokes. It's 1 more than NNN.mobi. and less than LLL.mobi
They could be used as phone numbers to your personal website or to an answering service that calls your phone when you get a hit on your site or an email.

Re: NNNN.mobi's worth a shot?

Keep in mind that NNNN.com did not sell out till 2001 and even now many come up in the drop and only realise $300 or so...
already I am amazed at how many of the NNNN.mobi's have gone, and I agree that one day you might be able to use it as a type of phone number from your website using VOIP...
although I have been waiting for this for 7 years...and it still seems a way off!

Re: NNNN.mobi's worth a shot?

You are right, if anyone doubts the importance of numbers to mobi, just check how many are registered.

It seems that many people are registering the keypad numerical equivalents.of generic and company names. Many of the good generic equivalents are registered. (i.e. MOVIE = 66843, EMAIL = 36245)

In addition, the numerical equivalent of many company names are also taken (GOOGLE, EBAY, AMAZON, YAHOO....)

Certainly, this is a gamble. But for the mere cost of registration, it is fun to play. Maybe a long-shot, or perhaps a long-term investment.
We shall see.

Re: NNNN.mobi's worth a shot?

Kind of surprised when I did a search and these were available, but nonetheless, they are as of the time I'm typing this post. Good luck!

8973.mobi (keypad translation = TYPE.mobi)
9428.mobi (keypad translation = WHAT.mobi)
8378.mobi (keypad translation = TEST.mobi)
3453.mobi (keypad translation = FILE.mobi)
9673.mobi (keypad translation = WORD.mobi)

Why only 9,000?
There're 10,000 NNNN,from 0000 to 9999.

Re: NNNN.mobi's worth a shot?

I think 0000.mobi, 9999.mobi, and 7777.mobi would sell for more than reg fees. That is what we're really after here aren't we, a little profit. I would pay more than reg fee for 0000.mobi and think there are alot of others that would too. I can just see people in a couple years saying "call me at 7777 or 1000". These are very easy to remember, short, universally known, and easy to type. Go for it.

Re: NNNN.mobi's worth a shot?

I would say any NNNN.mobi that is a good sequence or spells something is worth a punt at the reg. fee today, even longer ones that are a triple double or triple triple could be worth the reg fee!

The numbers seem to be going very fast!

3776.com is also only 4 dial pad entries on your cell phone browser.

Most of the numeric equivalents for generic and "potentially" branded domains are held by a handful of Domainers.

Our first globally distributed program is the wildly successful Sudoku puzzle by Michael Mepham. Check out the Sudoku puzzle in the Los Angeles Times (and other Tribune newspapers) and you'll see a call to action to enter 783658.com into your wap browser. You are taken to our mobile website. Enjoy a free game on us!

For those of you who had the foresight (or luck in some cases), the time is upon us to monetize those numeric domains in ways that you never dreamed of.

Stay tuned or drop me a line if you want to learn more.

Cheers

Would it not be wise to spend $25 and get 783658.mobi?

I defo agree with you here 'topgun999'.

Every Premium Word keypad numerical equivalents for the .com ext have gone long ago...... So the .mobi is Perfect on mobiles (Could prove to be even better than the .com Equivalants, Time will tell g )

This is also the Quickest way to type in using ONLY 8 keys. + [.mobi] key

In my opinion, although early days, this could be one of best ways to market your products for the .mobi generation.

all these are already gone....

Re: NNNN.mobi's worth a shot?

It's all about the number of keystrokes. Many people will still want a small pocket phone and will continue to use keypad entry. The example you pointed out was WORD or 9673. WORD is 8 keystrokes vs just entering the number, and that is an easy one because the W and D are single stroke letters.

Try INFO vs 4636, INFO is 11 keystrokes.

I agree, there may be some confusion, but people have done pretty well using words for phone numbers, like 1-800-FLOWERS.

We'll see if some of the big companies use it for .mobi. There's no way to know for sure right now. But, IMHO I think it's worth a shot.
