Not normally a fan of numeric domains.
This was a little bit special though.
And it went pretty cheap it seems.

    Re: 20.com sold for $75,000

I think that the connotation that "20" stands for "2.0" - as in Web 2.0 - is lost with the non-geek crowd. That said, $75k is a fairly low price for a NN.com.

Wow! what a steal! Didn't even think about the Web 2.0 idea.

    Web.20.com rings well. Nice buy.

    Re: 20.com sold for $75,000

Me too. I wish I could have got the domain 75K is way too less for NN.com, as they are the rarest domain names. I will see that I don't miss the chance in future.

    NNNN.com - $200 - $450

    NN.net - low $xx,xxx - mid $xx,xxx
    NNN.net - $900 - $2,000
    NNNN.net - $12 - $30

    NN.org - high $x,xxx - low $xx,xxx
    NNN.org - $250 - $500
    NNNN.org - reg. fee - $12

This is just my opinion of what the market is like for the average numeric name. Premium names (even numbers, numbers with meanings...etc) will command a premium price. Numerics that contain 0s tend to diminish the value unless it is a premium with a special meaning, like 500.com or 007.com.

It seems that NNN.net and NNNN.com names continue to increase quite a bit in value every month because they remain affordable for much of the market and they are very usable, which may not be the case for some .org names.

    What does everyone else think?
Can you please mention the source of this information? Sorry for the dumb question. I know abt site 3characterguide, but that is only for CCC domain names.
    Thanks in advance

I'm guessing he's basing it on current sales

I think you nailed it Elliot. Just keep in mind folks that the number of numbers with "special" meanings is *very* high. For any given NNN combination there are probably 50x as many businesses using that number as there are for a random LLL combination.

I should add that the discussion we had about 20.com losing value because it is easy to think of "twenty.com" when said out loud is moot in this case because they are using 20 to mean 2.0, a clear number. The big typo winner would be 0.com in this case. If only ICANN let that one go....

Michael Arrington of techcrunch.com was behind the purchase of the domain name. He commented on the transaction at DOMAINfest in Hollywood last week.
