DNF$: 106 Location: uk | _How to buy Sombodies domain ? ? I wish to purchase a domain from sombody. It is registered with Godaddy. (i don't know the domain, as it is for my colleuge and he asked me to buy the domain, but i know vague details about it)
I emailed them, and they are willing to sell it to me.
What about price?
It was registered in 2004, but the domain/site is Not running at the moment
How do i work out how much this is worth?
it has no traffic, as the site is NOT LOADED.
It expires in April 2008, but he is willing to sell it to me.
How would i approach him about a price? What should i pay for it? a domain that isn't getting traffic, and is not uploaded?
i don't want to sound desprate, or he will raise the price.
What offer should i make?
Any tips/ advice? from Experience ? ?
+What are the NEXT LEGAL STAGES, after price has been decided? |

Regarding what I said about emphasizing on the fact that you are a reseller, you dont have to say that you will resell the name... just introduce yourself as a reseller. That may help avoid price inflation Quote:

Do I email him and 1)offer him 50% of this(and work up if he says too low)
Or 2)Should i ask him "How much do you want for the domain?"
Which one is a better approach, asking how much he wants? or telling him how much I wish to pay ? Why is it a better approach ?
which one works best for you ?

You don't need a site to have traffic. For all you know the domain gets thousands of visitors a day. |

So you have to decide your strategy. Quote:

Most sellers that I contact are insane and want $20,000 for a mediocre domain name, though this may be a reasonable guy. I would expect to pay at least $500..but we really need to know the domain name to give an accurate opinion. |

I want to send an email to a domain owner too.
I don't know the domain name either
I know some vague details though
I want to ask the owner if the domain is for sale
What exactly would I say to a domain owner to find out if they want to sell a domain that I don't know the name of?
Can you help me? |

See if it is listed on sedo or afternic and maybe he has it priced there.
Buy quality, not quantity.

Good Luck with your acquisitions in any event.

The best way to go about things is to offer 50% of what you feel the domain is worth, but tell him you might be a bit flexible with the pricing (hopefully then he'll come back a bit higher, but nothing too high) |

I don't think so. |
