    Can domain point to www.site.com/~user

Sorry if this has been asked before. I tried searching on google but couldnt find anything.

I have a domain name and my own web server. My question is whether or not you can point a domain (www.site.com) to point to http://my-ip/~user

    Is this possible?

Yes this is possible and I am currently doing it. My domain name www.gogl.us is pointing to my website URL www.webauctionsdaily.com. The process is called ALIAS DOMAINS.
    Hope this helps...

I don't believe you can use a "domain pointer" to 'point' to an htm page as in your ~user example, only to the home-page. However, you can use forwarding or redirect to do that.

    Domain name to ip

If for example you had IIS, you could set the domain name to point to your IP address and the sub directory of your choosing, no problem. You could run the web server as the IP address, a domain name or both, etc.

    Hope that helps.
