    direct navigation traffic/type in

    hi all

can someone pls explain if it always goes to .com?

i.e. if i type cars into url, will the browser auctomatically take me to cars.com?

or if im based in the UK will it take me to cars.co.uk?

does it vary from browser to browser?

    anything ive missed..?

    Thanks

If you type a domain without the extension the browser will first look for a matching hostname in your network (intranet etc).
Certain browsers will then try appending .com or your ccTLD to the name.

If you type 2 words in the URL bar in Opera, this will launch a google search.
    It's pretty much browser-dependent behavior.

try for yourself, i typed in "cars" in the address bar and google search came up

however what you're referring to, is when someone actually types in the full domain name with extension in the address bar of their browser

that is type-in traffic or directly navigating to the site of choice ....or what you think will be there.

    imo...
