Country: | domains are expired but not available for reg, why? I have a list with tons of domains that have expired in Dec '04, when I check them with any registrar it is still not available for registration while the expiration date has already been passed for a while.
Why is this and how can I figure out when they will ACTUALLY be available for registration? |

So domains that expire 17dec will be deleted 30feb ? |

Country: | Re: domains are expired but not available for reg, why? many registrars charge a chunk of change for the most recent owner of a domain to renew an expired name ... it's to their benefit to hold it a couple of months during a "grace period" and give the original owners time to cough up the big bucks before putting it back out there in the wild...
I think also that ICANN has a mandatory grace period of 30 days...

The actual drop date depends upon the registrar and what they use for a grace period. |
