Is ebay a good place to sell domains?

I was browsing domains at Ebay and saw one FHM.net with a few hours left at $2,225

I'm interested to know, do you guys think Ebay is a reliable source to sell domains? I don't read about it on here or see the sales on DNjournal.

Or is it the other way around, do some of you find good deals on Ebay? Thanks!

premium domains like 3 character or very good domains sell in ebay at better price

but all in all ebay is NOT a good place for selling..but if you need som equick cash,it may be an option..but your valuable domain may sell for under price..

so be very selective in selling in ebay

but be smart in buying domains in ebay ratherthan selling...

even for buying, it is kind of hard.. Most of the bidding takes place on the last minute.
So, you need to be watching every minute. Kind of bad ..

if you time it is an option!

I have bought and sold domains at ebay. Ebay can be frustrating at times. Yes, you can find bargains in EBay but it takes a lot of hard work and sometimes luck. As stated earlier most of bidding takes place at then end. As a buyer, you have to set a maximum you willing to spend and hope it doesn't go too high at end. As a seller, you set the minimum price you are willing to sell at and hope the price goes up towards the end. You never know whats going to happen until the last few minutes. Sometimes you sell a domain for more than you expected the othertimes you sell a domain for much lower than you think it was worth. Overall, I would rather buy or sell domains on these forums than ebay. It is safer and quicker here than on ebay but the lure of ebay is that you might make more there than here but its always a risk.

slim pickings on the buying side. to much garbage to wade through.
good publicity on the selling side for the listing fee. for the cost you get plenty of eyeballs.

A lot of Shill bidding goes on at Ebay and that includes Domains, This one in particular has a few red flags......... Ebay is a place for bargains, so if you don't mind selling your domains on the cheap, Ebay is the place to do it.

    not a bad selling platform,

especially when you advertise the ebay auction on all the major domain name selling forums to boost the interest,

you should end up getting pretty close to current matket prices

Wow! It's interesting to read many different viewpoints on Ebay trading! I have sold one domain on there in the past and it went very low. I really think this system benefits the buyer. But I'm thinking of trying it again with another name because of the amount of exposure outside of the normal selling platforms. Unless an end user types or falls on your sales page, my guess is you're counting stats in your afternic/sedo/moniker sales listing from other speculative domainers. Is this the case normally? Ebay may be a good test to see general outside interest by checking th counter stats. But you'd also risk a buyer who doesn't normally buy, ask a ton of questions about domains and the whold transfer process which takes up a lot of time.

I guess alot of shill bidding goes on there. I presume thats why they're not listed on DNJ?

You have to find your Niche and Stick out from the rest. The ending time is Key and be very clear in your listings.

Having a lot of feedback helps (I have over 6,500 Positive). It's a great place to find Direct Domain Buyers. I have a list of over 750 people who I know buy domains, so there are more pluses then one might think.

Use your Live auctions to draw people into your store. The fee's are lower, so you can list all your domains. eBay allows you to promote your own auctions with there affiliate program, so if you are crafty enough, you can earn money in two places

It's also never good to put all your eggs in one basket, so do not make eBay the only place to sell your domains. If you have a gem, put a reserve on it, or it could go less then you expect, but it can also go a lot higher then you expected. eBay seems to have a max point of an avg of $200 or less, but if they are reg fee domains, that's a nice profit. There are some that sell in the $x,xxx range, but it has to be an LLL or a hot keyword domain.

or shall we say, "It's also never good to put all your (Regs) in one basket"?, lame joke...

Thanks for the Ebay advice!! It got me thinking I already have a store up and running for something else, would be a good way to also list some domain names for more exposure less fee. actually I didn't know about that affiliate program, will definately look into that.

I'm new to the domaining world, but will offer my opinion as well...

I've sold two domains on eBay, I made profit on both of them but I'm positive if I just held out I could have sold them for higher elsewhere. It's just that I was in need of quick money, and those particular domains weren't anything too special.

On the other hand, I notice LLLL.coms sell well there... and adult domains. I've seen tons of one week old adult domains sell on eBay.

I think its a great place to sell your domain name if you are willing to risk selling for way under value...We would have paid several hundred dollars for each of these for example.

You'd be better off selling to a domain buyer before sending to ebay!!

Ebay can be very profitable for finding customers to buy your names that are not advertised on ebay
It is a lot cheaper than adwords
Try different ebay sites not just ebay.com
Ebay have elastic rules about where a DN is located
It could be where you live, where the registrar is, where the register is, where the DNS is, where it is parked, where it is hosted, etc
