I was just wondering which Escrow service you would recommend if you were to transfer a domain.
The reason I'm asking is because since I'm in Canada Escrow.com is a little more of a pain. I have to wire the money (this is my only option)
and because of this I have to pay the bank fees to do the transfer plus more fees to do the currency conversion which adds more money to the cost of the domain.
sedo is a much easier to work with and I was wondering if you were purchasing a domain from someone who is not a domainer if there would be a problem using sedo Escrow
or if you would still recommend using Escrow.com even though there are more fees.
Thanks for your help.

Are you willing to pay the 15% sedo commission?
Well sedo Escrow for a non listed domain is 3% I believe.

Escrow
You're right. It's 3%. http://www.sedo.com/us/about-us/pric...d=&language=us. I would still use Escrow.com though. I got faster response from them with customer support.
escrow.com always
never had a problem with them ever
sedo are scum. don't use them
if it's private sale and not too huge can't they just wire the money through to your bank account and you transfer domain?
if not, escrow.com all the way

Interesting responses. I figured that most would be leaning towards Escrow.com.
In this situation I would be the buyer so adding those feels will make a domain purchase more expensive. Since would be dealing with an end user I wouldn't want to just transfer the money directly.
@biggedon have you used sedo with sellers who aren't domainers? How has this worked out.

I have used Escrow.com in the past for several large transactions, and never had an issue.
sedo isn't bad for these transactions. But they insist on converting currency into your home currency. U get jipped a lot on those conversions most of the time. Occasionally, though, they shoot themselves in the foot. A few years back sedo insisted on one of those anal-obsessive transactions, and I ended up a winner in a xx,xxx deal!
Anyway just to update,
First time I used Escrow.com. The transaction was very smooth and Escrow.com received the funds very quickly.
The domain transaction also went very smooth. Glad I used them!

sedo support is non existant when it come to escrow services.
Escrow.com never failed.

Escrow.com hands down. The support...and I mean Sandra...makes the transaction smooth and stress free.

I must add to the complete satisfaction with Escrow.com.
The process is quick and painless, and the phone support is amazing, if needed...
Have used escrow.com many tiimes and no problems. Yes, Sedo is helpful if you're selling, they usually release funds quickly if Sedo can get domain first to transfer domains to the buyer. Once the domain in Sedo's account, they would release money. (this is my experience when selling domains via Sedo. But it may still apply to Sedo escrow. Anyone to confirm this?)

Glad to hear Adam. I was the buyer in this case and the transaction was just quick and painless.
I have had a transaction with sedo it was definitely much slower.
