I got put into an auction for a domain on snap names which was not pending delete it was in pre release phase.
The auction is still running but I just checked the whois and the domain age has reset to yesterdays date.
Why has this happened even though it wasn't pending delete?
you must of been mistaken..pre release won't just 'reset' its date...
I don't understand what's going on with all the domain age tools right now.
Whois says this is created in 1999
SEOlogs says created on 1999 but 11 years old
Webconfs says it 6 years old
SEO for firefox brings back nothing
Why are they all different?
Is the domain now only 2 years old instead of the 11?

Perhaps you're seeing the registrar output.
Check the true creation date here: http://registrar.verisign-grs.com/whois/

Hey thanks for the help.
Is this the most accurate way to check a domains age then seeing as all the tools report differently?
In .com/.net the registrars maintain the ownership record. They may also report a creation date different than the registry.
For example, if you transfer to Enom they will use the effective date of transfer as 'creation date' in their record.
