I've found some Geo domains of places (VERY popular and famous places, some capitl cities) in ccTLDs they don't belong to. The ccTLDs themselves are popular (I'm talking .co.uk, .us, .de)
Are they a good choice to reg?

If you plan to develop definately a 'yes', otherwise it is waiting for someone with the intention to develop them. Have you checked their Overture on the national suffix (try http://www.yankamma.com/myovt/).
