    Re: Google PR?

it just relates to the number and quality of links your domain has. Google.com is PR10 (the highest) and it goes down from there. A PR5 or PR4 domain is quite nice, it usually means that domain has a good number of quality links. PR doesnt have a direct impact on Google placings, but high PR sites are usually found on the first page of search results

    Re: Google PR?

Page Rank is the foundation of google's search technology. Get the story straight from the horse's mouth: http://www.google.com/technology/

Also try putting "Page Rank" into google and clicking search - you'll get more info than you can handle.

This slightly outdated article tries to explain how it's calculated: http://www.iprcom.com/papers/pagerank/

But note that they tweak things at google pretty frequently.

If you want to see the PR of a page, get the google toolbar (for IE): http://toolbar.google.com/

    then go to http://www.rankwhere.com/google-page-rank.php

just enter in the URL, making sure to include the 'www.' prefix to find the PR

I just found out that one of my sites has 4 out of 10. I guess, that means PR4...

Hadn't seen that before GT, thanks!

Anyone have an idea how he's getting the PR programmatically? It's not a part of the google api. I suppose he could have implemented the formula.

    EDIT:
Further research shows one way to do it is to grab the link from your "Temporary Internet Files" folder and modify it. There is some issue with a time/IP-based checksum that would make it difficult to implement with a perl script, though. Any one here already doing this?

    Re: Google PR?

Your welcome, I dont know how that script works, but it has never been wrong for me. Its a great way to check for PR on dropping names or names you want to double-check before you buy them

    Re: Google PR?

You have to disassemble the toolbar dll file to find the algo for calculating the ch (checksum) and then write the functions for it.

You can also check your PR here..
