how to tell if traffic is type in or backlinked?

Hello,

I'm getting heavy traffic to one of the domains i just purchased. How can I tell if the traffic is typed in or from backlinks? I don't have any ppc campaigns at all linking to this domain. So is it all type in then?

Is there ways to tell from my parking service? namedrive.com

Very possible to get information from your parking service provider. You should contact namedrive.

Another option: You could create a simple script (in php or Perl or whatever language you like) that checks the HTTP referrer header on all visits to the domain. If there is no referrer, then it is a type in. Otherwise, some form of backlink. This form of script would require minor access to the web server's configuration (in order to catch things like domain.com/someRandomFolder/what.cgi?bleh=hi).

In Awstats down the bottom it has the breakdown of traffic. Look at the % of Direct navigation / Bookmark traffic.

To the OP, host the domain on your own server and look at your traffic stats.

Instead of parking the domain, I was suggesting to track the traffic stats on their own server.

Which is similar to what I suggested, except a little easier. Assuming you have knowledge of setting up a Web server and working your way around one.
