just some advice please

Hi there,

I can see there are alot of successful people on here that buy sell and develop domain names, the real question is what is it you look for to make the domain worth buying?

Secondly I have devised a strategy to only go for droped names I feel making domains up is a waste of time unless its the new latest trend etc.. and doesn't have any TM issues with it.

Thirdly do I concentrate on buying domains with good PR and links etc
I do have a system that can be programed to reg domains as soon as they get dropped from the initial catch, the problem is I really don't know what people are buying, just because snap have dropped a domain I'm sure to someone it could be a worthwhile investment.

Many thanks for reading this I know there is alot of knowledge to learn here which is why I became a Platinum member

The best advice is to watch the domain sales at a place like DNJournal (http://www.dnjournal.com/domainsales.htm) and see what's selling and for how much.

If you're looking to park or for resale, the closer you get to single meaningful words and short phrases the better you'll be. At DDC, we look for quality type-in traffic - domains such as CheapCars.com, ForSale.com, Divorce.com.

Look at your budget and decide. Do you want to invest in a couple of very good names or lots of not marginal names? Quality should win over quantity every time.

Rick Latona just wrote a great post on his blog titled "What Makes a domain sellable". This is a must-read for new domainers and has a lot of key details about what makes a domain valuable. Read it here.

Hope this helps!

Linton it really did help thank you so much for posting that link, knowing how the big boys operate, gives you an incite on what to look for.

Does anyone know where you can find a fast domain checker that doesn't crash?
I'm wanting to set one up on my server, to find google, pr, yahoo ranks etc

I already have a very fast checker to see if the domain is available or taken, it doesn't check links etc though!

Many thanks for all your comments thus far

ps. I'm looking to share the lists i compile every day of whats taken and whats available
to someone who can show me out of all them domains each day, what is worth getting and what to leave alone
