Also, be prepared for anything - especially from the biggest and notable domain and domain related companies - at this point, the way many have aligned them selves - by trend setting moves they have made, such as buy-outs of a certain domain categories, along with loads of fake domain sales reports; regular domainers... I say this at the risk of having my post deleted, account terminated and whatever might be thrown at me (since this is a private paid "country club-like" establishment - which does not need to abby by any rights relating to freedom of speech, but rather more of a SS like mentality as some have seen with terminated accounts and deleted threads for very non-trivial and honest mistake instances); but at this point Im no longer a young kid that can easily be swayed thinking this is the only place to do business - most of my sales are conducted privately - so I have no problem making these statements, even if the only person that sees it is the person deleting it!

i was right there with you, except when you equated "us" with having "SS mentality".

because i take that comment personally!

if you want to be the guy that attacks the forum because it tries to maintain platform for domainers to do business, in a professional manner, then this is not the thread for it.

Just look at the "infractions" on my account - and how I got temp banned twice... I will say that instread of posting them so all can see what a joke of a reason they gave for banning me twice in past 4 months - in addition to my past experience here.

There is something seriously wrong! There is nothing professional about the actions taken against my account - they were purel personal!

agree a big mistake made by newbies is regging names that 'sound good' as opposed to checking if the term also has some search count, is used in everyday language, etc.

also, picking a 'theme' and regging a bunch of domains around that theme that are only brandable - terms that nobody searches.

also, should have put more emphasis on country code domains (like .ca) when it was easier to get high quality.

Haha... one of the few times, I read thru the whole thread. Being relatively new... I learn all this in a span of 2 months before joining DNForum....

Yes, I registered like 50 domains in the span of 1 months.

I agree with you and for me especially being on the other side of the globe it's difficult to look for a mentor who would share all. Most things that I learn is mostly from the school of hard knocks.

Most ebooks don't tell the whole story anyway. So I apply a bit here and there from what I read from the ebooks and learn along the way. So most of my lessons are lessons that costs.

    That's me too....

Yes, with the lesson learned over 4 months. Now I am trying to clean up my portfolio, sell most of my domains, develop a few with potential, brand one or two domains and purchase one or two relatively expensive domain with good revenue stream.

Never realize what regging is until I completely finish reading this thread....

I'm still new and I'm still making them, though I came to one conclusion in the last few days...

I would have rather spent $800 on one really good domain instead of $800 on 100 crappy ones.

    Bingo ^^
Newbies tend to register a lot of mediocre names in an attempt to offset their late coming to the market. Big mistake. Quality is always better than quantity.
