    ".net" vs ccTLD

    Gents,

    Please advice.

Where is more english type-in traffic at ".net" or ccTLD of english-speaking countries (e.g. ".ca") ?

I personally never type ".net" so intuitively I think that ccTLD have more type-in traffic.

However ".net" domains cost more. I am thinking to invest considerable amount into several key ".net" domains but afraid that there will be no traffic.

    Thank you for your advice.

    'english' cctld is .co.uk

.net won't get natural type-in traffic unless a major keyword or a typo of another .net site.

If we are actually referring to .ca over .net. It really depends on many things.

I'd rather have .ca living in canada, but most others would prefer .net. Bigger market for .net and easier to resell. But most canadian businesses would prefer either .com or .ca. At least that's how it seems to be.

Inherently, the majority of the traffic will be .com. In bigger, more developed countries, the cctld such as .de or .cn for example there will be some traffic to the cctld. From there I think you will only find a fraction of the traffic, if any, at some of the other cctld's and the .net.

Why are you choosing .net? Why not .com?

What are your goals, traffic, aggregation, development?

In some countries (english speaking and non) the majority of the traffic will be from their cctld, not from .com, this is an important distinction.

    Thank you for your answers.

It seems a bit strange that ccTLD have more type-in traffic, but ".net" domains cost much more.

.nets are global (gTLDs), ccTLD's are not.
