    Noob question about pending deletes

    Hi Guys,

I backordered and won a domain which was pending delete when I found it. It was 12 yo and the age has now reset to the date I accquired it.

Is this a consequence of buying a pending delete domain? You always lose the domain age and have to acquire it before it enters the pending delete phase to keep the age?

    Thanks,
    Bozzy

    Yes.

The name dropped (was deleted) so now it's a new registration.

    Thanks.

So once a domain enters the pending delete phase is there no way to get it with the age intact?

When the name enters redemption status (30 days) it can still be redeemed by the original registrant (for a fee).
When it enters pending delete it's too late, the name will drop.
