payment methods on this forum...

hi!

I see that many members here sell and buy domains from each other. I also see some posts in "Domains Wanted" to which I would like to answer, because I have a domain fulfilling the requirements.

But my doubt is - what are mostly used and common payment methods in transactions within forum members? From what I have found, most popular is paypal, but the problem is - I don't have paypal (it's not yet available in my country). Do people here use other payment methods? (for example e-gold or moneybookers). Or maybe an international bank wire is possible? And if not, is it possible, that if I sell a domain, the buyer will pay to someone else (i.e. to my friend who does have paypal)??

And what is the common procedure - does buyer pay first or the seller transfers the domain first? Or do you use some brokers? I ask, because for me the best broker for now would be sedo - it's safe and they pay via wire, but when the domain is not expensive, the fee is very high ($50)... So if I sell domain for $xxx+, sedo is ok, but when I sell a domain for $50, it's obvious I can't do it via sedo So, what procedure/method would be possible for me while selling a domain on this forum?

I'll be grateful for any explanation/advice, thanks in advance

Re: payment methods on this forum...

I think you just decide on payment method and such with the buyer personally...

Yes, I know, but what I ask about is - what is most common and accepted as usual payment method? And what are POSSIBLE methods of payments? I.e. - if you trade a domain with other member - how do you usually pay and what is the usual procedure (who acts first - buyer or seller)?

I just want to know, what kind of proposals can I make and what kind of proposals can I expect.

Re: payment methods on this forum...

ok don't take just my word for it, but I think escrow.com and sedo.com are the ones mostly used, sedo takes transfer by wire, cc and paypal.

http://www.sedo.com/services/s_escrow.php?language=us

I think paypal is the method most widely used

the escrow service alone seems very easy really, any domain registrar can do it. I will look at the possibilities to add this to our site too I think..

Re: payment methods on this forum...

thanks

one more thing - sedo or escrow are good for large transactions, but when you sell in this forum a domain worth $50-100 - do you still use a broker? Or do you do it some other way (directly)? Because the fees are quite large at sedo and escrow ($25-50) and it's not worth it to use their service for small valued transactions...

Re: payment methods on this forum...

Very few people would sell over $1000 value without using some sort of escrow service.
The most popular method of payment here for low value domains is Paypal.
Normally for small value domains payment is made before the transfer of a domain.
Other options for payment are available such as nochex, fastpay, credit card etc but these have to be individual arrangements between buyer and seller.
As in all cases, buying and selling requires the use of common sense. Be wary of the fact that Internet fraud is common and it can often be very difficult to recover losses in a fraudulent transaction. Look for sellers/buyers who have an established reputation as a first condition of limited trust. That having been said, many successful transactions are carried out here every day and reported problems are very few.
