The Process Of Purchasing A New Domain Name

    Hi,

This is my first post. I am interested in purchasing domain names. Will someone please explain the process of transferring the domain name if my Hosting company is different than the sellers? How long does the transfer typically take?

Thanks so much for any information.

In typical situation, you just open account (free) at same registrar as seller.
    Buyer pay the money.
Seller push the domain to buyer's acct (instant).
Buyer just change Name Server info. to point the domain to buyer's Hosting acct.

It takes up to 5 days if buyer MUST transfer out the domain from seller's registrar to buyer's registrar.
