    Question about parking

I am new to the domain business but have built some websites in the past with moderate success (up to 5K uniques per day).

I have a Hosting account with one of the hosting companies. I can host an unlimited amount of websites on them.

Wouldn't it be wiser for me to create my own parking page with google adwords and etc. instead of sharing the profits with a parking company? (of course I would develop some of the sites)

This makes sense to me, but I get the feeling most people prefer to park.

    Thanks,
    Gil

Your best bet is to develop the sites. Unless you have a great domain that has a lot of type-in traffic (cars.com, etc..) parking won't net you that much.

Develop the site with good (and unique) content and put some ads on there, update maybe once a week (I've had the best luck using wordpress and a nice theme).

You can also look into Parked.com - sign up with them and if you get rejected send a PM to donsimon w/ your username. Parked seems to be opening the doors to a new level of parking - just shy on the parking side of development (not available yet, BTW) but a preview is available here:

Parking is nice if you want to throw something up quickly but don't expect to be a quick millionaire (unless you spend $xx,xxx, xxx on a domain). The best way to go is though development with unique content and link building (Digg, Del.Icio.Us, link exchanges, etc..).

    Hi

most domainers park their names because it's easy to do and you can get immediate statistics on those names that have traffic and revenue.

this is a practical solution until you can develop websites for your domains and in the meantime, you may get lucky and receive an offer.

i always advise domainers to first list all their names at sedo so they will be in the data base for visibility if you want to sell them.
then you can park your domains at the ppc service of your choice.

whether it be sedo, parked, namedrive, fabulous, domainsponsor, goldkey, trafficz, whypark, etc.

who's the best...no one service is the best for ALL your domains!
(except fab for casino/poker/gambling names, imo...)

as you will have to move your domain names around, to find out who can best convert the traffic for each one.

    imo...

No it wouldn't. With CTR You have with Parking (10-50% - depend on type-in/expired + optimalization) You'll get BANNED at Adsense.

Just test it with few parking companies (Yahoo feed/ Google feed, 1click / 2click).
