Start a new site? Or promote my current one?

I have a music lyrics site that brings in around $200-$300 monthly.

I have horrible placement in Google. I am on page 15 for the keyword "music lyrics". My question is, should I pay someone to do SEO for the lyrics website? Or is that a waste of time and money and should I just set out to spend my money on starting a new site?

I would SEO the site you've got now unless you have a horrible domain name. Organic backlinks are always best so I would have someone help you SEO the domain you've got.

Yeah, if the current domain has bad keywords I'd move it as well to a more suitable one.

Two things you should do.

1) Improve your site. This is the best way to improve search engine results.
2) Keep an eye out for the keywords though drop services (Pool, Snapnames, etc..). If you are lucky enough to get one, 301 redirect it to the site you currently have.

*edit* I see some replies saying to get a new domain and host the site there. Not a bad idea, just remember to forward (301) the old domain to the new one and let people know.

The current domain is . Should I be looking for something else?

EDIT: I just read the sticky post thing saying not to promote your own sites. Would posting the domain be considering promoting my own site? I don't want to get in trouble.
