DNF$: 5,513 | Re: Type-in traffic. Don't understand it... I'd have to agree with DomainBuyerBroker. Quantity is a risky game at this point. If all your eggs are invested in domains that just barely eek out a profit during the year and can't really be developed as standalone Web sites - what will you do if the PPC income decreases or next year?
What will you do if domain renewal fees increase by $1 or $2? What will you do if the traffic to 20 percent of your names dries up because they never had stable organic traffic to begin with?
You're going to watch your income stream dry up and be left with assets that are worthless. Nobody (that's smart) is going to buy 3 word or 2 word domains that make little sense, little money and have no development potential.
I always look at things three ways when I sort through names:
1. Which names are strict PPC revenue plays.
That's to say which names generate earnings but have limited development potential and little resale value. These are the names you collect for your monthly income stream and these are the ones you can tap into and sell based on PPC multiples if times get tough or if you need to reallocate funds.
2. Which names are strict development plays.
Believe it or not there are plenty of names that make next to nothing when parked, but make a boat load of money with just a little investment of time, content and design. These are the names you sell beyond PPC multiples to someone else who can develop the name.
3. Which names have it all?
These are the best of the best and the gems that I value the most. These names have good and steady traffic, ppc earnings and lots of development potential. They are worth much more than the 8-12x annual revenue offers that many domain investors will offer you. These are the names you hold on to as long as you can or until you get a very worthwhile offer. |

Am I missing something?
Of is a 1.5% CTR (this is on my best domains) very bad? If so, what is the average CTR I should be getting?

| Parked domains should get more like a 20% click through rate. But the keywords need to match what people are looking for. They will self-optimize over time if you can't optimize them manually. But yes, 1.5% is very, very low. |

I know that I'm supposed to check it myself, but my registrar doesn't allow name dropping and I really can't spend any more money on regfees for worthless domains.. |

Research, research, research... and I find making the lander pages any color but blue makes my CTR% go up...people are blind to that pesky blue lander color (it's like spam) because of the same exact lander DS spread on tens of thousands of domains on the 'net for many years...black, green, and orange seem to work nice..red is good for porn, bright colors good for vacations, dark for business
I register phrases I would type-in myself...and that you would use in a conversation..a very good command of the english language is key here...and you do not need ALOT of traffic..just GOOD traffic that pays high clicks..I know of domains in very niche industries like prepaid legal and health, etc that have gotten me several dollar clicks from almost every visitor...focus on the highest paying markets you can find if you must hand register names instead of buying them...then do your best to get it in search engines and directories if possible with good titles and keywords...usually a domain has to be advertised on tv or in print with "www" for the wwwwhatever.com version to get traffic...don't bother with the ones that are just whatever.com, remember you can register typos of GENERIC high traffic type-in names..you would be amazed how many of these are still available!

I'm very excited to hear that 20% is around the norm...that means I have alot of room to move up.
Here's the deal...i have about 3 sites right now that I am getting some very good traffic on...but CTR is 1.5%
1 has around 1300 uniques a day.
1 has around 500 uniques a day.
1 has around 300 uniques a day.
I'm currently using namedrive...will namedrive self optimize these for me? I did put in master keywords that I thought would benefit. The thing is, 90-98% of the traffic is coming from asia...so I can't figure out what's going on if they coming and looking or what's the deal.

tony | edit the domain inside your portfolio, choose the different theme like "dusty plains" (black) or "mint julip" (light greenish) "orange burst" etc etc..choose one, preview and click save!
