What are the values of [city-name].com? - DNForum - Domain Sales, Domain Forum, Domain Appraisals, Domain Registrars

I have several .com of city names. Not major cities, but small ones with populations between 10,000 to 300,000.

Some of them are getting a few hits a day, the rest has no hits at all.

I'd like to know what are the values of these kind of domains in the market.

Any ideas?

Divide the population by 1,000.

Read http://dnjournal.com/domainsales.htm and see if you can find some related names. Also, try http://dnsaleprice.com and search some cities to find recent sale prices.

It depends also on which countries the cities are in. But if they are pure 'cityname.com' then you have a very nice investment. Good luck.

divided the population by 1000 seems to be a fair way for small to medium sized cities. but i suppose doesn't apply to major major well-known cities. i.e. chicago, population 2,833,3211. only $2833 in value? :->

i've got a few .com of kiwi towns with population of around 1000. but since these places have some tourist attractions, i guess the values should be calculated via some other means..;-)

You are right - I am using the 1,000 for the mom and pop cities.
The large one obviously has their own prices and the 1,000 formulation would not work well.

So for cities with population 1,000 or less you have to give the name away for free!
