What is WLS?

WLS - Wait Listing Service

Description:
A much feared term among those who make their business grabbing dropped names or selling drop catching services to the former.

Implications:
Its intro signifies the death of the domain drop cottage industry.

ETA:
Depends on how hard the anti-WLS movement works to thwart its introduction

What it will mean to us is we will now compete for WL Subscriptions in the same way we currently compete for domains. They are proposed to have a one-year renewal period, like domains, so services will appear that grab dropping WLS's, like we currently do for domains.

Are we all seeing the pattern?

Instead of grabbing a name directly, you'll now have to grab an attempt at the ownership of domains.. So in addition to expiring domain lists, we'll need expiring WLS lists.

Then, when the competition becomes really strong for expiring WLS's, they'll introduce a Wait Listing service for WLS's...

I don't get this "WLS" stuff ... gotta read up on it, I guess. Doesn't sound too appealing, though. Thanks for the thread.

So companies like ultsearch and buydomains with large pockets will just buy WLSs on all great domains while they are still active and be guaranteed that once/if they drop, theyll own them.. Isnt that ****ed up?

Isn't that pretty much what's already happening now?!?

Exactly, Its already happening now so I dont see any benefit in it. Actually, its even worse. Now, at least us little guys stand a chance witn NW and SnapNames, when WLS comes we as well can say good bye domain biz.. They will take it all!

One of the best rebuttals to the WLS is done by one of our
largest competitor.

I totally agree with this comments.
