This is because a CVCV is most of the times much easier to pronounce than "random letter" LLLL domains.
E.g. BIPO, GABA, LAMA, PAPA, TITO etc. are way more brandable than DRRI, OGOF, ATAT, DIEP etc.

Thanks for answering my questions everybody

RARITY also plays a factor,
with LLLL there are (26)x(26)x(26)x(26) = 456,978 combinations
CVCV = (26)x(5)x(26)x(5) = 16,900 combinations

I see where you're getting, but that doesn't explain why VCVC.com's are worth 1/5 of CVCV.com's. Or why most VCCV.com's and CVVC.com's etc. can't even get close to CVCV.com's popularity.
VCVC.com:
5 x 26 x 5 x 26 = 16,900 combinations. Just as rare as CVCV.com's.
VCCV.com:
5 x 26 x 26 x 5 = 16,900 combinations. Just as rare as CVCV.com's.
Personally, I don't look at patterns when I buy short domains, as a CVVC.com or a VCVC.com can often be way more pronounceable and brandable than a CVCV.com . Resellers get crazy when they see CVCV.com's nowadays and it's quite funny to see what some domains sell for just because they have the "CVCV" pattern.
I'd prefer Boop.com over Bopo.com , Loot.com over Loto.com and so on.![]()
Let`s be ACCURATE please.
If 5 are the vowels, the consonants are 21, not 26.
So it`s 21x5x21x5 = 11025
Same numbers for the VCVC , names like IPOD , EBAY , ASUS are just few examples.
There are no reasons for the VCVC to go for less than the CVCV but somewhat some people like to bid where others do.

I think CVCV may be more of a reseller than an end user thing. Sure some end users are looking for a pernouncable four letter domain, but more often than not their looking for the domain that is the initials of their company. They are just as likely to be ABND as FIHU.
