What can be done to make this section better? - DNForum - Domain Sales, Domain Forum, Domain Appraisals, Domain Registrars

Hello everyone, I am one of the new mods assigned to this section. To give you a little background I have been dealing in adult domains and websites for about 3 years. I have ran a couple TGP's, AVS's and a ton of hub pages. I have done a lot of domain redirection and have a good amount of experience when it comes to good sponsors. Please let me know if you have any questions about content, hosting, sponsors, scripts or anything else you can think of that relates to the adult domain section. Also if you would like to suggest some changes to make this section better please list them here or PM me. I will be happy to discuss.

The thread is a bit crazy at the moment. Split the section up into three parts:

Adult name appraisals
Adult names wanted
General discussion

Well, maybe this is my liberal European background, but I think having a separate adult section is completely unnecessary. What could happen in in the worst case? A kid seeing a dirty word on this website? Where he can see these at millions of other websites too and hear it about every second on tv?

If you simply merge this forum with the other subforums then you automatically get a much better separation into appraisals, wanted etc.

Ed30, those are nice suggestions but this section really isn't used enough to break it down any further. This section gets maybe 3-5 new threads a day max.

Hanogl, sometimes it's just better to have a little seperation. There are many adults who would rather not discuss this topic as well. Seperating it into it's own section gives people the option to see it or not.

ADULT means ADULT PERIOD! This has nothing to do with
"liberal European background" bullshit

You guy`s edited and chewed my *** out for posting a StonesTickets.com domain for sale in the "LOUNGE" section, YET you allow 15 yr olds in the adult only section. THAT`S ABSURD!!!!!

Nobody in their right mind would condone 15 yr. olds (YES 15 YR. OLDS!) posting to an ADULT forum and worse yet participating in building xxx pornsites!!!

Please tell me how we could stop people from coming in here that are underage? If a 16 year old kid wants to read this section he is going to. How can we block them? I am all up for hearing your ideas.

ALSO, as relates to THIS forum, people with the designation "minor" would simply not have the ability to read or post to this forum. It's not a big deal, its just the way it is. The above ability would also help buyers and sellers be clear on who they are selling/buying from, and what may be involved in protecting themselves legally (if they need a parent or guardian involved).

No, problem Jason. Don't mean to sound annoyed... its just that I make many of these posts under the impression that I'm helping, and then nothing happens. Trying hard to buck the often so much more appealing and less time-consuming cruise-mode of complete apathy.

and yes you should be annoyed, as any responsible adult would be. This problem is obviously not a new one, just an overlooked one.

Jason, There doesn`t seem to be a problem in NOT allowing people into the "platinum" forums that don`t pay the extra 35 bucks to do so. I am not a programmer but you can`t tell me that there is no way to keep minors out of the ADULT forums.

Jason, sorry to see that what seems to have happened is that the other moderators. bailed out and dumped this mess in your lap, once I brought this to their attention. But it is good to see that somebody seems to care enuff to take some action to correct a wrong. I trust you will do the right thing.

First of all this section will be moved into the platinum section pending an approval from DCG. This material can be very sensitive and it would be better to limit the exposure on DnForum which basic mission is not adult domains.

Second of all I have asked to see if we could get some sort of signature required to enter the section. This would put all the responsibily on the person reading the material and away from the forum owners.

Both of these are being discussed and I will let you guys know when I have more of an answer. I think I see why I was the only one to volunteer to mod this section.

RE: first of all: how is moving it into the platinum section going to stop minors from going here? They are platinum members already?! All I can see that doing is grabbing another 35 bucks from from ADULTS that care to participate in the ADULT forums. I`m sure that "approval" will fly through the channels.

BTW Doesn`t membership here require a Credit card? As someone here mentioned earlier a 15 yr. old cannot get a credit card. What`s up with that?

If I am pissing people off by speaking my mind well then so be it. I`ve never been one to sheepishly go alone just to get along. And especially not when I can plainly see something that is just not right.

Yes I can see why nobody wanted to "volunteer" for this assignment. It takes intestinal fortitude to go against "status quo" It`s much easier to just look the other way.

If you have Paypal you can get an account. I believe that is how a couple people got memberships, they used their mother. Also you could buy a membership for someone.

The adult section will have a good amount of appraisals and for sale threads which are a Platinum only function. By moving it into this section it makes it easier to mod since I wont have to delete as many posts.

As for the age issue, it it still being discussed.

REPLY:since the age issue is the main crux of the problem shouldn`t it be solved sooner rather than later.

Another thing that someone here also mentioned, a minor cannot be held responsible in any legal contracts. Are any members here just a little bit worried that they are doing transactions under these conditions. You aren`t very professional if you aren`t the least bit concerned about this. I for one WOULD never enter into a legally binding contract with a minor, involving any substanstial dollar amount. That`s just plain common business sense.

Sorry kids but that`s is just the way I see it.

Who is 15? In addition to the adult issue (which I agree with). since DNForum is mainly about buying and selling, how do you enter into a contract with a minor?
