every .co.uk domain has to pay a 10.00 BP + VAT Nominet fee

Only if your going through nominet, any transfer from the main registrars transfers for free.
That's not correct, pushing a .uk domain at a registrar does NOT change the legal registrant name, the only way to transfer a .uk domain is via Nominet. If you have bought .uk domains in the past and they have just been pushed then the seller will still be the legal registrant. There's no way around paying the £10 + VAT fee and going through Nominet, unless you don't actually want to own the domain you've just bought
