The Templates look alright i guess but damn - whoever does the SEO things on these needs to look for another job - every single page has duplicate text and the entire site is in the supplemental index.

Thought these things were meant to be SEO friendly?

No nothing "missing" so to speak but if your wanting to get ranked in Google it does need alot of touching up i.e. body copy re-writen, keywords changing, linking structure etc etc but if your happy with the traffic and the conversion - thats cool

Thanks for the points Sin, I have just started to understand keywords and have set to work on changing them. I've just done a bit of an overhaul on the website from post #1. One thing I do not understand is body copy re-written, does this mean the html structure and if so will this have an effect on search enging ranking and seo?

No it just means you need unique content because at the moment your site is in the supplemental index. This means either your have the same title through out the site or you have duplicate content and looking about you have duplicate content and that is the cause.

Just do some research on the selected subject and write some unique articles or get someone else do it for you.

ALL the SE's LOVE content but they filter out the duplicate sites, i mean you dont need the top 3 sites in Google telling you the same thing right?

Unique content wins everytime and it certainly will help with your rankings if done right.

What is the supplemental index, what causes it to be there and how do I get it to the regular index?

The Supplemental Index is like a seperate database Google has for sites that have either duplicate content (the main cause) or the same title tags through out the site. It's estimated there are something like 1 billion sites in the supplemental index today.

The easy way to get out of it is just have unique content and make sure your title tags do not say the same thing on all your pages.

When GoogleBot crawls it next time and Google do the next update it should pull it out of there. It might take a few updates before it fully comes out, it depends on how many pages you have in there but it will come out.

Ok I've just finished taking out all the duplicate content, wrote some of my own, changed the keywords for every page to be relevant to the content. I will post an update in a month.

Its been just over a month, no change, still in the supplemental index its been PR3 for a few months but nothing new to report

Once you get supplemental indexed, it takes time to get off it.
Changing page url, keyword, title, description, new content will help.
